Greetings in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus!

My name is Fr. Ron, and I am currently on a road trip driving

from Canada down to Resurrection in Lakeland, where I look

forward to joining the Pastoral Team and offering my

sacramental and spiritual assistance to the people of Resurrection

Church & School.

A little bit about myself. I am a member of the Canadian

Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (C.PP.S.),

which is a worldwide Roman Catholic Congregation who believe

that the Precious Blood of Jesus offers healing and redemption to

all. In our lives of service - the priests, brothers and lay

associates of this Congregation are especially dedicated in

offering hope to those who suffer from loneliness, despair,

poverty or violence – in a world that can be very broken.

I was born in Chicago and received degrees in Philosophy,

Theology and Psychology. I was ordained a USA priest in 1977

and left for Canada in 1979 to work in the Archdiocese of

Toronto. In 1982, I joined the faculty at Chaminade College,

where, for 25 years, I taught all curriculums within the Theology

Department, became the head of the department, and I spent

some time teaching in the English Department.

In my 42 years as a priest, in addition to what I mentioned

above, I also served as pastor of three parishes and was

administrator of two parochial elementary schools. I have been

trained and certified in Clinical Pastoral Care in ministering to

those in hospitals and held the post of Chaplain at Palos

Community Hospital in Illinois. I have also been on the lecture

circuit in giving marriage courses and spiritual retreats – and I

was the keynote speaker at a conference that dealt with issues of

Hospice Care, the dignity of death & dying, and the modern

dilemma of political correctness and issues of morality.

From 2012 – 2018, I have assisted in the Diocese of Orlando

at the Cathedral of Saint James; The National Shrine & Basilica

of Mary, Queen of the Universe; Holy Cross Parish; Saint

Margaret Mary; and other parishes as requested. I am a cancer

survivor and, after receiving recent surgery in Orlando, I returned

to Canada be with my brother priests while recuperating. Now I

am back!

God’s Blessings, Fr. Ron ————>

The Covenant Experience

Resurrection is expanding its marriage ministry! We are

blessed to have great date nights and a get-away retreat

with Married 4 Life. And now we are excited to have an on

campus Marriage Retreat called the Covenant Experience! This

is a weekend retreat where you and your spouse can take a

break from your busy lives to reflect upon the importance

of marriage, to learn how to make your marriage better,

and to recognize how God walks alongside you and works

with you in your marriage. This retreat has something for

every couple from newly married to those married for

decades! It is a weekend of discovery, rediscovery, and

renewal. Come re-energize yourself, your marriage, and

your relationship with your God! The Covenant Experience

will take place March 8th – 10th in the Campisi Banquet

Center. Couples will go home each evening and return in

the morning. The cost will be $150 per couple and will

include 6 meals and all supplies. Registration will take

place after the English Masses beginning January 26/27.

Space is limited, so register early! For more information,

contact Jackie Reycraft (863)398-9877 or Toni Godinez

(863)669-5360. To support the Covenant Experience

retreat, a raffle will be held after all Masses on the

weekends of January 26/27 and February 2/3. Purchase a

$25 ticket for a chance to win a one week stay for four at

a 2-bedroom, 1-bath condo on Anna Maria Island right

across the street from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.

Valued at $1300. Subject to availability between May and

December 2019. For more information and photos, go to:

Resurrection Catholic School

Principal’s Principles

As an educator for the

Diocese of Orlando

ongoing Catholic

education is a required for

all professionals. This

week I embarked on a

professional development about

the big picture of spirituality.

This PD talked about relationship

with God and becoming a saint.

I was intrigued by the discussion

about saints being ordinary

people with an extra-ordinary

relationship with God. Saints, to

me, are extra-ordinary people. I

would be happy in heaven to be

in the most remote area (thinking

in human terms) I just want to be

there. I never applied the anyone

in heaven is a saint mentality

when it came to me personally.

This idea has lit up my thoughts

in a different way, which is what

professional development is

supposed to do.
