Using equipment that consists of amedium format camera and an 8x10 large-format wooden camera, photographer JoelBrown’s black and white photographs offer aunique perspective of his subjects that bringout the hidden details, textures and shapesthat often go unnoticed with colorphotography. An exhibit of his work is ondisplay in the John Wayne AirportCommunity Focus Space from December 13,2018 through January 16, 2019.“Mr. Brown’s photography style brings a

capturing images in the tradition of WestCoast photographers who were active in thefirst half of the 20th Century and is inspiredby the work of photo pioneers EdwardWeston and Imogen Cunningham. Heprocesses and prints his own film in “wetdarkroom” tradition without the use ofcomputer or digital manipulation.Brown’s photography has been featured in
the Los Angeles Times, Men’s File magazineand in numerous exhibitions including theLaguna Beach Festival of Arts, Center ofFine Art Photography, and Photographers’Exchange Group, to name a few. He haswon many awards for his work as well asinclusion in the Permanent Collection of theLibrary of Congress.Brown’s photography exhibit may be

Stephen Tucker is a United States Marine.He served on active duty from March, 1966until September, 1970. He was designated asNaval Aviator in Sept., 1967.
From February 1968 until March 1969, heserved in the Republic of Vietnam as aMarine helicopter pilot attached to HMM-364and MAG-36.
He participated in the Battle of Hue City,The Battle of Hai Van Pass, and the Battle ofKhe Sanh during the Tet Offensive of 1968.The rest of his tour was in daily support of
U.S. Military actions in the I Corps of the RVN.Upon returning home, he was assigned to
NAS Pensacola as an Instructor Pilot inAdvanced Instruments.September of 1970, he was released from
active duty at the rank of Captain.Steven has been an active member in the
Freedom Committee of Orange County. Theirmission is “Passing the Torch of Freedom onto Future Generations”, in Middle Schools,High Schools, and Colleges.
The task is to present personal militaryand life experiences so students may
understand about the price and sacrifice ofthose who have given all for the freedom ofAmerica as well as others pursuing freedomaround the world.Stephen has a short, but meaningful,
history of a family member serving in the U.S.Military. His father, also a hMarine, served in1944-45 as a rifleman and participated in theBattle for Iwo Jima, where He fought there forten days until severely wounded andevacuated. He recuperated for a year atFarragut Navy Hospital inside Farragut NavalTraining Station near Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.Capt. Tucker’s military awards include:

Two very special events are celebratedthis month, beginning with Día de los Reyes, or Day of the Kings on Sunday, January 6 andMartin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 20. And Live on the Argyros Stage featuresStevie Talks, Kai Kalama, Hummingbird Hotel, HLLNDR and The Moon Rays.For many countries around the world, the Day of the Kings on January 6 is the high point
of the Christmas holiday. This celebration stems from the story of the kings – Melchor, Gaspar,and Balthasar – who traveled from the Far East following a star that brought them to Jesus inBethlehem. This ancient and beloved cultural tradition will be honored with lively music, acommunity procession, delicious Rosca de Reyes (Kings’ Cake) and storytelling by a local“abuelita.”On Saturday, January 20, the Center, along with millions across the country will come
