CONGREGATIONAL WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

MUSIC LEADING US TO WORSHIP

CALL TO WORSHIP -- Quoting Psalm 95:6 ONE: As we come into the house of the LORD today, let us do so humbly, with reverence. Let us consider the greatness and glory of the one we come to worship. Let us celebrate that we can come just as we are, and yet,

God invites and urges us to grow in faith and faithfulness. ALL: It is not a trivial thing to worship the LORD our God. May we worship

with gratitude, in awe of the one true God. The Psalmist wrote long ago; "Come, let us bow down in worship. Let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker." Humbly, with thanksgiving, we too bow our hearts before the LORD our God! AMEN!

HYMN OF PRAISE UMH #64 “Holy, Holy, Holy”

PRAYING AS GOD’S PEOPLE - a prayer by Peter Haynes O God, whose holiness is not limited to grand cathedrals or saintly persons, spectacular mountains or mountain-moving leaders; O God, whose holiness is often discovered in simple everyday places and simple everyday folks; plant your holiness in this place, in us now. Grow us this hour, that we might flower, right where we are, with the beauty of your holiness. Through Jesus Christ we pray. AMEN!.

AFFIRMING OUR FAITH We believe in the grace freely offered in Jesus Christ, in the atoning work of Christ's death on the cross, in the power of forgiveness to change lives, in the redemption that turns sinners into saints, in the wholeness that mercy brings, in the freedom that liberates us from sin's hold, in the new life that is ours, now and for eternity. This we believe. AMEN!

SINGING IN RESPONSE UMH #70 “Glory Be to the Father” Glory Be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,

world without end. AMEN! AMEN!

SHARING OF PRAYER AND PRAISE

MUSIC LEADING US TO PRAYER UMH #348 - v. 4 “Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling”

O for the wonderful love he has promised, promised for you and for me! Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon, pardon for you and for me. Come, home, come home; you who are weary, come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!

PRAYERS OF GOD’S PEOPLE ~ THE LORD’S PRAYER UMH #895 (you are invited to the Altar for prayer)

BRINGING OUR GIFTS AND OFFERINGS TO THE LORD

SONG OF THANKSGIVING UMH #140 -chorus “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided; great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE UMH #344 - refrain “Lord, You Have Come ...”

Galatians – Why God Accepts Us:

The human acceptance we long for often comes only if we are attractive, smart, wealthy or powerful. And God's standards seem even higher. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul shows us the true source of our acceptance--Jesus Christ. This Bible study on Galatians will help

us know that we are worth much more to God than we can ever deserve or imagine! This group offers a mixture of personal reading and reflection as well as group

discussion. Meeting at 7pm this class is led by Pastor Jim Decker meeting on Monday evenings from January 23--April 3 in the Patterson Parlor. Contact [email protected] or 724-515-7252.

Books provided are $10.

CUMC Annual Guide Book & Directory

We will be working on a new guide book and directory for our congregation that will be updated and delivered directly to your home. This book is the

Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of our Church. The book will be provided at no cost to you or our Church. Local business will be solicited to

advertise in the book. If you own or manage a local business and would like to advertise in our book, please call or email the Church Office with your information.

Is Your Family Information Up-to-Date? It is time to update our database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have

occurred in your family over the past year. Have you changed your phone number? Cell phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? New email address?

If you have not already informed the Church Office about changes to your record, we will need your updated information for the new Guide Book & Directory. You may call or email the Church

Office or submit your information on “The Tear-Off” section of the bulletin. Important: if you do not wish to have your information published, please note it on

“The Tear-Off” and include it in the offering plate.
