Partner Ghana Programme Manager
Main Role / Purpose
The Sabre Trust is a development organisation working in close collaboration with the local education authorities in the Central and Western Regions to support the implementation of the Ghana Education Service's plans to scale up quality kindergarten education nationwide, through the Brighter Futures Programme.
Partner Ghana is a linking programme for schools in Ghana and the UK, which facilitates educational exchanges between students and teachers for the mutual benefit of both schools. The partnerships bring a new dimension to lessons and extra-curricular activities as students learn about each other's cultures and lives, sharing experiences and advancing their education.
As both programmes expand, there is a need to strengthen the team's financial management capacity to ensure strong budget planning and accounting across all our project and programme activities.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Accounting
● Tracking of project expenditure against agreed budgets● Creation of monthly financial reports for individual projects and a consolidated Brighter
Futures Programme report● Production of monthly bank reconciliations● Preparation of annual accounts for auditing and examination● Implementation of accountancy software including transition from excel spreadsheets
Budget Planning
● Work with project and programme managers to develop annual framework budgets for each programme, including individual project and activity budget lines
● Extract from annual framework budget, activity based quarterly forecasts to assist with cashflow planning
● Advise Programme Managers on cash requirements on a monthly and weekly basis, to facilitate bank transfers and withdrawals
● Work with the respective Programme Directors and Programme Managers to develop financial strategies for the Ghana teams, including identifying local funding sources

Imprest Management
● Work with programme managers to review and refine imprest accounting procedures, implementing appropriate processes for approval of advance funds requests, and petty cash expenditure
● Day-to-day management of imprest accounts, including disbursement of petty cash
General Administration
● Creation and maintenance of an asset register● Management of logistics requests related to shared programme vehicles● Support with procurement activities as requested by the Programme Managers● Support with fundraising activities as requested by the Brighter Futures Programme
Manager
Candidate Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will likely hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and have a strong track record (min 3 years experience) of accounting and finance management. Some experience of working on project accounting or in an NGO environment would be advantageous.
