Umrah in Ramadhaan Equivalent to Hajj: Ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace andblessings of Allaah be upon him) said to a woman from among the Ansaar – “What kept youfrom performing Hajj with us?” She said: We only have two camels and the father of her sonand her son had gone for Hajj on one camel, and he left us the other camel so that we couldcarry water on it. He said: “When Ramadaan comes, go for ‘Umrah, for ‘Umrah in (thatmonth) is equivalent to Hajj.”

SATAN MISLEADING PEOPLESATAN MISLEADING PEOPLESATAN MISLEADING PEOPLESATAN MISLEADING PEOPLESATAN MISLEADING PEOPLE WHO AREWHO AREWHO AREWHO AREWHO ARE NOT SINCERENOT SINCERENOT SINCERENOT SINCERENOT SINCEREWe begin by reminding ourselves of thelove and unity among the brothers andsisters in the ummah. We are remindedthat we are one ummah, but when issueswere brought up in the past, we findpeople arguing amongst each other. Ourmessage is not that we have to agreeupon everything but to acknowledge thateach side has their opinions while we lookfor ways to unite. We as muslims wouldhave non-muslim friends who we havecompletely different opposite lives to, yetwe don’t disunite with them. We use ev-ery opportunity to give dawah. TheSahabas Ajmeén showed mercy to a manwho was a constant drunkard. It doesnot mean the man was supported in hisdrinking but there was no need to curseand abuse him. We must look at our ownselves. We have differences of opinion inour deen which are allowed. Are we go-ing to disunite with every person whodoesn’t have the exact opinions as us?No. Within the Qur’an and Sunnah wehave choices in Islam. The Messengernever ate onions but allowed the Sahabasto do so. He didn’t because he was inconstant communication with Jibraeel(AS). He told them not to eat them when

going to the masjid out of courtesy forthe angels and brothers and sisters, forthem not to get the bad scents. We arenot here to discuss the details but we arenot to disunite on the basis of differencesof opinion. Having different preferencesdoes not mean to hate one another. TheProphet (s.a.w.) even found ways tounite with the disbelievers. He wouldnever disunite even with his uncle whowas a non muslim. Where is our Qur’anand Sunnah and Islam?Surah Imran Ch 3 vs 105: “And do notbe divided among yourselves after clearsigns have been received.” If we base ouractions on sincere intentions, we wouldnever look for reasons to disunite. Thisis why the first hadith in books is aboutsincerity. Islam is a way of sincerity. When we do things for ourselves, weopen ourselves up to pride and arroganceand that’s how we cause disunity and losethe blessings of what we’re doing. Ev-erything that we do should be for AL-LAH only and we should try to do thingsin the way the Rasool would do them.Surah Zumar Ch 39 vs 11: “Say: Cer-tainly ALLAH has commanded us to obeyhim with Ikhlas.” We are reminded of the

story about how Satan refused to bow toAdam (AS) due to his arrogance. Satanhas vowed to misguide the servants ofAllah and stand in the path of our gooddeeds. Whatever good deed we intend,Satan can come to us and try to corruptour intention, making us do it for show. The important lesson to note is that evenSatan admits that those servants who aresincere, he wouldn’t be able to tamperwith them. ALLAH mentions this inci-dent in many places in the Qur’an andreminds us that when our intentionschange, we can become a follower ofSatan. From Abu Huraira (RA), theProphet said: ALLAH does not look atyour faces nor your wealth but he looksat your hearts. ALLAH says in theQur’an that the servants who are sincereare truly on the straight path. A man whogives one date in the path of Allah is bet-ter than the man who gives mt Uhud ingold without sincerity. This is the impor-tance of Ikhlas. To end, anything that we do, whether itbe in our professional and family lives,do it for the pleasure of ALLAH as theQur’an says that ALLAH has not cre-ated us except that we worship Him.

Muharram the first most holy month of theIslamic year is upon us and the Islamic NewYear has begun. The Jewish High Holy Days

YYYYYom Kippurom Kippurom Kippurom Kippurom KippurREFLECTIONSREFLECTIONSREFLECTIONSREFLECTIONSREFLECTIONS

also began this month with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish NewYear. As I sit to write this reflection, I am keenly aware thatour Jewish brothers and sisters are preparing to celebrate theirHigh Holy Day of Yom Kippur…the Day of Atonement. Morethan 3,300 years ago, after hearing from Gd at Sinai, the childrenof Israel sinned by creating and worshipping a golden calf.Moses camedown from MountSinai, saw whathad happened, andsmashed the twotablets on whichthe TenCommandmentswere engraved.Moses thenascended themountain onceagain, and stayedthere for 40 days, and then another40 days. On the tenth day of the month of Tishrei he camedown with a complete pardon as well as a second set of tablets. Each tradition has similar times of the year in which they lookto renew, but clearly need to look within and reconnect withGod and one another. May such times remind us of theconnections we have and the connections we need to developas sons and daughters of our one God. Beloved, let us love oneanother: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born ofGod, and knoweth God. I John 4:7To Practice this Thought: Peace must have the last word andlove must rule so that we might bless the heart of the God thatmade us in His image and likeness. Amen.

According to Nyazee they would deem itimperative that Islamic law deal with mat-ters covered by the law of torts, the law

To be continued in the next issue, InShaa Allaah

of contracts, taxation, and above all constitutional law and fun-damental rights. They would like to see Islamic law taking intoits fold the laws of business organization and commerce. Ac-cording to Nyazee of particular interest to these persons wouldbe the seeking of justice under administrative law, labour lawand the laws governing the granting of government contracts, which in most places are source of exploitation and corrup-tion. He says that most former British colonies would espe-cially like to see the criminal procedure codes to be altered inthe light of Islam. Many such laws the heritage of a colonialpast, laws designed to enslave nations, laws that are being re-tained by the present rulers against the interests of an aware, yet often helpless public. Imran Ahsan Khan Nyazee is furtherof the opinions that if the principle of prohibition is accepted asa basic method, it is likely to ensure that a hukm will be foundfor each activity in an Islamic state. Such permission or per-missibility, according to him will proceed from the principlesof Islamic law. This is what all the jurists appear to have donein practice, even the Shafi’ites. Whatever custom or practicewas found in a new region it was analyzed for legality and waseither rejected or it was accommodated within the fold of Is-lamic law. This approach guarantees complete Islamization andabsorption of all laws in a more reliable manner, and makes thephrase “Islam is a complete code of life” more meaningful.Nyazee says that this, however, is merely an opinion and oth-ers may disagree, Further, this principle, according to him, mayhave its own problems.

My dear sister and brothers, Assalamu Alaikum. Allah (SWT)has indeed blessed us abundantly from His immeasurable boun-ties and favors. If we were to list all the things that Allah (SWT)has blessed us with, it becomes truly overwhelming. Further-more, if we are more aware of the fact that it is Allah (SWT)only who has helped us in our lives, it will make us appreciateall His blessings. First and most important, we are thankful forthis Deen, we are thankful for His mercy and forgiveness, forHis protection, for His sustenance, for His guidance, for Hisprovisions of our homes, our food, our health, our families. We are thankful to Allah (SWT) every day for blessing us to beable to see, to hear, to speak, to smell, to walk, to eat, to di-gest, to move, to smile. We are thankful to Allah (SWT) forour jobs that helps us to have a roof over our heads, means oftransportation, abundant meals, ability to have electricity, run-ning clean water, air condition, heat (in winter) , comfortablebeds and furniture and all the comforts of home. From theminute we are able to get out of our bed to the minute we restour heads at night; all are blessings of Allah’s protection andmercy. We will not survive from one minute to the next, but bythe mercy and guidance of Allah. Our academic and profes-sional progress and success in life, is all due to Allah, we didnot do it on our own. For the most part, we all have so muchto be thankful for, every second of every day. We all mustmake more effort to thank Allah (SWT), and always through-out our day (as much as we can) praise Him. He knows whetherwe will be here to see the next second of our lives; yet, some-times, we live our lives as if our plans for the next hour, thenext day, the next month, or years; will always materialize. There are no guarantees, but we can certainly show our grati-tude for all that Allah (SWT) has blessed us with, by not onlythanking Him in our duas and other ibadah, but also by ourgood actions. If we were to compare our lives with those af-flicted with suffering in different parts of the world, we will bevery grateful to Allah (SWT) for all that he has given us andfurthermore, we should stop complaining about trivial matters.

It is no secret that the Western world treats murders that takeplace in the Eastern part of the world as a lesser evil. Nonethe-less, crime is a crime no matter where it happens. Humans arehumans regardless of their geographical location. A child is al-ways a child; always deserving the best of treatment, no mat-ter where he lives, or what race he belongs to. Therefore some-one being killed in Aleppo is just as bad as someone being killedon a Manhattan avenue. But the reaction seems to change asthe location, identity, language, race and religion change! Thelocation shouldn’t determine if a person will be respected ornot. Nor should it decide if a child is going to be treated like achild, or if he is going to be forced to run for his life andscavenge for food. Regrettably, as you move from the affluentparts of the world to less privileged places, or more specifi-cally, from the Western world to the Eastern world, human lifebegins to lose importance and starts to turn into statistics. Mostof the time, horrible events happening in these places are per-ceived in the Western world as nothing more than hazy back-ground news. This is the reason why a terror attack in Parisdraws world leaders to a major rally, while another attack inIstanbul, one that is incomparably more violent, is barely cov-ered. This indifference and hypocrisy seem to affect not onlypoliticians but the media and regrettably, a majority of the peopleas well. This is particularly surprising considering that newgenerations have grown up with powerful rhetoric on the im-portance of human rights, democracy and equality and weresupposedly well-equipped against the scourges of racism andviolence. Indeed, painful discrimination and cringe-worthy biaspersists without any allowance for women, children or the eld-erly. The situation is so severe and so distressing that one primeminister can call the refugees “swarms”, while another politi-cal leader poses in front of a picture of refugees, promising tostop them. In other words, the so-called civilised, modern, democratic part of the world displays a shockingly insensitiveattitude and appalling bigotry. It is as if there is a mutual silentagreement: “Shut your eyes, close your ears and pretend this isnot happening. Ten years later, we’ll say we will never let thishappen again”. After all, it happened before. When the Rwandangenocide and the Bosnian massacres happened, the people in aposition to help were quiet, but today they vehemently insist“they will never allow it to happen again”. Yet again today, chil-dren die, women are hurt and the elderly are abandoned to thestreets. This indifference will no doubt be a dark, indelible markon the pages of history. Furthermore, this time, it will not belike the WWI or WWII.

PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W)PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W)PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W)PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W)PROPHET MUHAMMAD (S.A.W)

As we read these lines, about 2 billionMuslims across the world, from Moroccoto Jakarta, will be paying homage to theProphet Muhammad SAW on his birthday.

About 1,440 years ago, Prophet Muhammad SAW deliveredthe historic Last Sermon (khutabat al-wida) on the parchedterrain of Mount of Mercy (Jabal ar-Rahmah) in the Uranahvalley of Mount Arafat, 20 kilometres east of Makkah. It wasprecisely on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah(12th and last monthof the Islamic year) in the tenth year of hijrah(migration fromMakkah to Medina ) that the Prophet SAW addressed close to144,000 pilgrims The sermon , though seemingly addressedto a Muslim gathering, had a universal message. It consists ofsummarized exhortations based on some core teachings of theQur’an and sunnah (Prophetic practices). It captures the ethosof Islam and provides a great lens to view the religion through. Some of his advices have become the fundamental touchstonesof the Islamic faith. Muslims use the occasion as a promisingtime to rededicate themselves to the universal human valuessuch as sacredness of life and property, equality, justice, peace, forgiveness, non-violence, women’s rights, the pillars of Islamand more. Upon these lofty principles, the religion of Islamwas built. The Prophet SAW died after unifying Arabia and hislifelong declared love of learning protected and contributed toclassical knowledge and continued the tradition of Persianscholarship during the dark ages of Christendom. For centuries, the Prophet SAW inspired the Muslim world to thriveeconomically, culturally, scientifically and artistically. More than1,440 years on, the divine providence of his philosophy, amongmyriad other socio-economic and political factors continue toanchor the Muslim civilization. We still have so much to learnfrom this 1,440-plus-year-old cry and we are so much in needof this message of Prophet Muhammad SAW to soothe andheal our broken times where we continue to struggle with almostidentical issues in our global human community. The content ofthe message was powerful and intense, and the Prophet SAWbegan by stating that he did not know whether he would meetthe pilgrims again ‘in this place after this year’. After praisingAllaah SWT and declaring the basic creed, ‘There is no deitybut Allaah and Muhammad is His Messenger’, he went on tospeak on various themes. He then reminded them and all of us,of the sacred character of the place and month, as well as ofthat of their lives, their honor and their belongings. He explainedthat the period of ignorance had come to an end, and so had itspractices, its rivalries, and its conflicts based on power andprofit. Henceforth, all Muslims were united by faith, fraternityand love, which were to transform them into witnesses of Islam’smessage. They must under no circumstances accept being‘either oppressors or oppressed.”

My dear friend Brother Ali who lived in Trinidad as a true fol-lower of the noble Prophet PBUH was a very selfless, humbleand jovial human being who served others for the pleasure ofAllah SWT. He followed the noble Prophet SAW in many ways. From a young age he was very active in the Islamic Youth Move-ment at the Nur E Islam Masjid in Trinidad and taught othersand myself to perform wudhu, pray salah, helped us to under-stand the basics of Islam and the importance of inviting othersto the Masjid and to Islam etc. He also assisted the Imam inmany different ways. He did lots of Dawah work at severalelementary, secondary schools and colleges and organized forstudents to attend the Jummah Salah. He very frequently madefuneral and burial arrangements for many bereaved families inthe community. He always responded positively to everyonesharing his bright and infectious smile with them. He frequentlyvisited the sick and ailing at hospitals and homes and alwayshelped the poor and needy in the community. He arranged andconducted Islamic talks, Quran Readings, Aqiqahs, Nikahs,Qurbani etc. for many families over the years sharing the mes-sage and teachings of Islam with them. He selflessly assistedothers in the community in many different ways. His lovingwife and kids made many sacrifices while he was out servingthe community for the pleasure of Allah. He did also make timeto spend with them and take them on vacations etc. My dearbrother gained more knowledge attending classes at the Masjidand in return gave much needed advice on Salah, Zakat, Sadaqa,Hajj, Fasting, Life, Marriage and Death etc. to many families. Icould go on for a long time describing only some of the ways inwhich our dear brother touched the lives of so many others ascommanded by Allah SWT and shown to us by the Rasool SAW.The big question is how many of us will rise to the occasion todo just some of what our brother did to make consistent invest-ments in good deeds and Sadaqa Jariyah (continuous charity)by helping others? This void which does exist in many commu-nities must be filled in an effort to grow and support the Ummahwhile obeying Allah SWT and also implementing many Sunnahsof the Noble Prophet Muhammad SAW. So who are the broth-ers and sisters who for the sole pleasure of Allah will make theeffort to gain more Islamic knowledge, recite and understandthe Quran even if it’s one verse and pave their way to Jannahutilizing their youth, health, wealth and life in serving the com-munity, visiting the sick, printing and sharing Islamic CDs,Qurans and books sharing the knowledge of Islam, giving Dawahand investing in the afterlife with Sadaqa Jariyah as our dearbrother did while he was alive?

DUDE, WHERE IS MY RELIGION?During the pastRamazan, in Califor-nia, a Japanese ladyasked her co-worker,a young Muslim manfrom India, what doyou guys achieved bystaying all day with-

out food and water? The Muslim man ex-plained to her that we not only stay awayfrom food and drinks, but we also stayaway from lying, cheating, hurting oth-ers, vulgarity, and other bad deeds. TheJapanese lady replied in shock, “Oh myGod, you guys are very fortunate, wehave to stay away from all these bad vir-tues for all twelve months.” Dude, whereis my religion?A Muslim went into the bathroom. Be-fore entering he recited the Duaa for en-tering the bathroom and when he exitedhe recited the Duaa for exiting the bath-room. After utilizing, he left the bathrooma total mess, dirty, filthy and unusable forthe next person. Water on the floor, onthe toilet seat, toilet tissues everywhere, and paper towels in the toilet. Dude, whereis my religion? On the 27th night of Ramazan, I stayedup all night praying Salats and recitingQuran. After Sahri I offered Fajar andrealized that I was too sleepy and tired togo to work. I called my friend and askedhim to forge my presence at the office. Iknew that during Ramazan, they won’tcare for this lie, as we all do it. Dude, where is my religion?During a recent Friday Khutba, our Imamwas preaching that we should never giveup on Allah’s mercy. He gave the exampleof a sinner who has committed 99 mur-ders, and then approached his Imam topray for Allah’s forgiveness. The Imamrefused, and the guy killed him, thusmaking it 100. After this, the killer him-self prayed directly to Allah to forgive allhis sins, including 100 murders, and Al-lah accepted his Duaa. Following heNamaz, I asked our Imam, who was thisman, during what period of history andin what City he Lived. He committed 100murders and was never prosecuted, andnever paid for his heinous crimes. The

Imam looked at me as I was questioninghis knowledge and wisdom. He justwalked away from me without answer-ing. Dude, where is my religion? He looked at the large number of men andwomen for Friday Namaz, and said“Insha Allah, Islam will flourish againwhen we will have this level of atten-dance for the Fajar Salat. I looked at thelittered shoes at the Masjid entrance, Ilooked at the cars parked everywhereblocking others, I looked at the dirty bath-rooms with water on the floor, and Ithought. Islam will flourish when we willlearn how to properly use the bathrooms, when we learn how to park the cars with-out blocking others, and when we placeour shoes in the empty shoe racks. Dude, where is my religion? We went to Umrah. We lied about the ageof our toddler, to save on the airlinesticket. I gave bribe to the religious policeinside Masjid-e-Nabwi to hold a place forme in the first row. A friend was tellingus that they reported missing luggage atJeddah Airport, and that will pay for onefamily member’s ticket. Muslims werecrushing each other to reach the sacredBlack Stone in the Kaaba. My uncle per-forms Umrah in Ramazan each year, totake care of his deeds for the other elevenmonths. My childhood friend has a writ-ten Fatwa that declares interest dealingspermissible in business and home buy-ing. He is a big donor and is on the Boardof the local Masjid. People are rushingnot to be late for Sunnat Taraweeh Namaz. After Ramazan, they don’t even offerFaraz Isha Salat. Dude, where is my reli-gion?The airport security searched a Muslimarrival and found a hand-made necklacetype hanging in his neck. He told the Im-migration Officer that this is a “Taweez”from his mother to safeguard during travelto USA. The officer ripped it open andfound some writings inside. He asked theman to explain this script. The Muslimman told the Security that he can read it,but he does not know it’s meaning. Inresponse to the officer’s disbelieve, hefurther explained that in my country, many people memorize the entire holly

book without knowing it’s meaning.Dude, where is my religion. The Leader told me that tomorrow theJamaat was heading to the Masjid in thenext city, where they intend to continueDawah. The pathway between the twoMasjids was filled with girls in skimpycloths, bars selling alcohol, stores sellingpork, banks advertising high interest rates.I saw the devil (Shaetan) looking happyand victorious. He said, man, I workedvery hard for centuries to achieve this. Now the Mullas are confined inside theMasjids, and I controlled the rest of theworld. I allow gay marriages, adultery, alcohol, pork, riba, nudity, abortion, andyou name it. Outside of these walls theycan not even call the Azan. Dude, whereis my religion? The Imam arrived just in time to deliverthe Friday sermon. He is dressed in aspotless long white rob, well groomed, wearing perfume, walking with grace, smiling and waving. He draws a salaryof over $ 80,000 and performs only spe-cific religious duties within limited hours. He is delivering Khutbah that Muslimsshould not celebrate Valentine, Halloween,or birthdays. I never saw him assistingto manage parking, cleaning, food, orother matters in the Masjid. Maybe thesetasks are not suitable for his dignifiedpersonality. However, he frequently givesexamples of Rashidun Caliphs. Dude, where is my religion? You want to know the answer? It is verydistinctly specified on the very first pageof Quran. Just read only Verses 1 thru 5of Surat Buqra. Read it’s meaning, readit’s Tafseer, and follow it. Follow the firstpage of Quran in your daily life, and youare guaranteed success in both worlds. Ihave limited space, and I want to writeso much. May be some other time. Untilthen, please take good care of yourselfand your loved ones. Allah Hafiz.

Brother Hydar Ali is a Muslim mathema-tician from Trinidad & Tobago (twin-is-land republic). His commitment to the reli-gion of Islam and also to the academic do-

main of Mathematics should make him a role model for many. Therefore, it is with great pleasure I present Br. Hydar’s briefbiographical sketch which will reflect his intellectual prowessin Mathematics and his involvement in Islamic work. Hydar Aliwas born to Tyab Ali and Shaffimoon (nee Omar) on January23, 1944 in Phoenix Park, California. He still lives in a reno-vated version of that original house. His elder brother, Ousman, died in 2015 and his younger sister, Zulaikha lives in the USA.He is married to Nazira and they have four children and sevengrandchildren. He started his elementary school education atthe Phoenix Park Government Primary School and in 1953,when the Trinidad Muslim League (TML) opened its first pri-mary school, he transferred to the San Fernando TML PrimarySchool. On the opening day he was literally the first person onthe compound and the records show that his name also ap-pears at the top of the Register. In 1954, Hydar wrote the Col-lege Exhibition, the entrance examination to secondary school, and successfully obtained a scholarship for secondary educa-tion. Hydar attended Queen’s Royal College in Port of Spainand during most of this period stayed with relatives in SanJuan. At school he showed a flair for mathematics and thiswas borne out by his performance. In his first major externalexamination, the Cambridge School Certificate, he gained dis-tinctions in Latin, French, Spanish, Mathematics and AdditionalMathematics. This performance enabled him to get a HouseScholarship. He went on to get distinctions in Mathematicsand Further Mathematics at the Cambridge Higher School Cer-tificate Examinations. Hydar taught for one term at NaparimaCollege in San Fernando before going to The University of theWest Indies in Mona, Jamaica to read for a first degree in Math-ematics on a Government Teaching Scholarship. He got a Fac-ulty prize in his first year and graduated in Special Honours inMathematics with First Class Honours in 1965. His brother,Ousman, also graduated from Mona in 1965 in Special Honoursin Spanish. After a very brief stint teaching at St. George’sCollege in Barataria, he then went to University College Lon-don on a Tate & Lyle Scholarship and completed an M.Sc. inStatistics in 1966. He did further postgraduate studies at theUniversity of Sussex culminating with an M.Phil. in QueueingTheory under Professor Sir John Kingman, F.R.S., in 1968.Hydar then returned to Trinidad as an Assistant Lecturer inMathematics at The University of the West Indies (UWI) in St.Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. He remained at UWI till hisretirement in 2009 as Senior Lecturer.

CRIMES AND IMMIGRANTS

THE MYTHTHE MYTHTHE MYTHTHE MYTHTHE MYTHEvery month I struggle with what to write inmy monthly blog. There is no shortage ofsubjects. The problem I have is to decide what

of many topics to use and to try not to make it too political butwith immigration issues, it is really impossible to stay awayfrom political commentary. Just reading the morning papersgive me numerous ideas and then I look at my inbox with emailsfrom AILA (the American Immigration Attorney’s Association)as well as emails from my friends and readers. The article thismonth is one that I have been wanting to write since Marchwhen I read an article in the N.Y. Times entitled “ The Myth ofthe Criminal Immigrant” The article in the times starts withtwo charts. On the left, it shows an increase of 118% in theimmigrant population since 1980. On the right, it shows thatthe violent crime rate since 1980 has decreased by 36%. AGallop Poll conducted in June of 2017 asked about whetherimmigrants to the U.S. are making the country better, worse ornot having much effect on crime. 9% thought immigrants weremaking things better, 45 % thought that immigrants were hav-ing a negative effect on crime in the U.S. However, numerouswell-documented studies show that immigrants are makingthings better when it comes to crime rates. A study done inTexas by the libertarian Cato Institute studied Texas data for2015 and compared the immigrants in the country illegally withnative- born residents. The study showed that “the arrest ratesfor illegal immigrants was 40 % below that of native- bornAmericans” A national study also done by the Cato Instituteconclude “Illegal immigrants are 47 % less likely to be incar-cerated than natives.” (and legal immigrants are even less likelyto be in jail or prison than undocumented). A March study “DoesUndocumented Immigration Increase Violent Crime? which waspublished in Criminology in March concluded “Increased con-centrations of undocumented immigrants are associated withstatistically significant decreases in violent crime” Numerousother studies have found that immigrants overall, including thosewith legal status, commit far fewer crimes than the native born.Immigrant are coming here to work and contribute to oureconomy , to reunite with families and to escape crime – not tocommit crime. The fact that a few immigrants commit crimesdoes not mean that “immigrants are brining crime. ” As theauthor of the Cato institute report stated ““Imagine I were toclaim that women are less violent than men, which is as closeto a social fact that we have in criminology and one were toreply saying that this isn’t true because in 2015 over 78,000women were arrested for violent crimes, and nearly 1,000 werearrested for homicide. Those statistics in no way contradictthe original statement that men tend to be more violent.”

In the vast parched lands of the SaharaLies a small and dusty town called

Makkah,Hustling and bustling with idolators

and TradersTransgressing all bounds of Ibrahim’s

holy Kaaba.......

LIGHT OF HOPELIGHT OF HOPELIGHT OF HOPELIGHT OF HOPELIGHT OF HOPE

Here was born a baby boy to Abdullah and AminaA birth that would change the history of Arabia,

The Almighty had decreed this birth to favor manFor his coming was foretold in His divine master

plan.......His mother passed on while he was a babyFather too had gone to an abode in eternity,All alone as dictated by the Heavenly Father

Now under the loving care of his nurse blessedHalima.........

grew to be full of grace and truthfulRespected by all both blessed and sinful,

Always doing what was right and justMidst the turmoil of tribes within the Sahara dust........

Well known to all his compassion and honestyAccepted by all as Adjudicator of the community,

His words and advice honored by allNot knowing one day he would receive that divine

call.........Known by all as the honest Trader

To the pleasure of Makkah’s renowned Khadijah,Her admiration blossomed into a blessed marriage

The First Believer of his vision and divine mes-sage..........

In the tiny cave of Hera he sat in solitudeMeditating on life while in solemn mood,Pondering at man’s inhumanity to man

And the scourge of evil throughout the land........Deep in thought an angel did appear

Startled and confused and full of fear,A voice uttered “read, read in the name of thy Lord”

Divine words from Jibreel sent by the Lord thy God....Words of wisdom for all of humanity

Principles of justice and equity enshrined by theAlmighty,

Words if not heeded then man shall sufferConsequences of his inaction to make life that is

fairer.....All mankind shall one day remember his name

The “torch bearer” of justice with an eternal flame,LIGHT OF HOPE illuminating the path to eternal glory

The pathway to the real Home in Paradise of theAlmighty.........

The perpetrators of the unspeak-able crimes of the past usually gotaway with their evil activities. There weren’t cameras, embed-ded journalists, smart phones orInternet. There was no Twitter orPeriscope. However, the unspeak-able crimes of the modern day arehappening in plain sight, caughtlive by cameras. You can findthousands of videos showing howrefugee children are being targetedin Europe by human traffickers, how children starve in Syria, howrefugees drown in seas but still areshown no sympathy. In otherwords, for the people of today,“unawareness” cannot be an ex-cuse. It is always an importantthing that a person gets hurt, tor-tured, or killed. If you imagineyourself or someone you love asthe person getting hurt, you wouldunderstand that it is most assur-edly quite important. Human life, human dignity and human rightsare always important. Choose notto be one of those people that havebeen desensitised by the develop-ments in the world. Don’t acceptlosing your humanity. Continue tobe shocked, continue to opposeall that is wrong and do everythingin your power to help stop crimes.Don’t let the apathy of others holdyou back. It is entirely possible thatthe sensitivity shown by you willhelp propel other people into ac-tion. Don’t forget, every societyneeds someone to take the lead be-cause not everyone will have thecourage to do the right thing. Butonce someone steps up, otherswill invariably follow. Your efforts, which could be something assimple as a small social media poston love, will definitely make a dif-ference.

Making the Moveto

Assisted Living Senior Housing

Whether your search for senior hous-ing is prompted by a serious medical condition or the de-sire for a lifestyle change, finding the right place to live canbe challenging and stressful for both you and your family. However, the earlier you assess your current needs andhow those needs may evolve over time, the more choicesand control you’ll have. By learning about the different typesof senior housing available, you can make the choice that’sright for you and ensure you enjoy a happy, healthy, andfulfilling home environment as you age. What is senior housing?Aging is a time of adaptation and change, and planningyour future housing needs is an important part of ensuringthat you continue to thrive as you get older. Of course, every older adult is different, so the senior housing choicethat’s right for one person may not be suitable for you. Thekey to making the best choice is to match your housingwith your lifestyle, health, and financial needs. This maymean modifying your own home to make it safer and morecomfortable, or it could mean moving to a housing facilitywith more support and social options available on site. Itcould even involve enrolling in a network of like-mindedpeople to share specialized services, or moving to a retire-ment community, an apartment building where the major-ity of tenants are over the age of 65, or even a nursinghome. When deciding on the senior housing plan that’sright for you, it’s important to consider not only the needsyou have now but also those you may have in the future:Physical and medical needs. As you age, you may needsome help with physical needs, including activities of dailyliving. This could range from shopping, cleaning, cook-ing, and looking after pets to intensive help with bathing, moving around, and eating. You or a loved one may alsoneed increasing help with medical needs. These could arisefrom a sudden condition, such as a heart attack or stroke,or a more gradual condition that slowly needs more andmore care, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

For instance, we are all aware thatcurrently, there is considerableflooding in Nigeria, Philippines,India, North Carolina, etc. Thereis drought in Afghanistan,Mongolia, and in parts of Ethio-pia, to name a few. There is fam-ine and hunger in Chad, SierraLeone, Yemen, Sudan Ethiopiaetc. Some of the poorest coun-tries are Haiti, Uganda, Yemen, and Mozambique. There are not enough doc-tors, no painkillers, not enoughmedical supplies to ease the painand suffering of those afflictedby sickness. There is no cleanwater in Uganda, Mozambique,Niger, etc.; which causes ex-treme thirst, hunger, no accessto clean clothes or daily baths (allof which we take for granted). There are refugees, who havebeen driven out of their homesand desperately seeking asylumfrom other countries. Now let us reexamineour lives and we can surely seejust how wealthy we are, be-cause wealth is not measuredby our bank accounts and ourassets; but by all the abundanceof blessings that Allah (SWT)gives us every day. Reminderto myself and all of us, let ustake time, out of the time thatAllah has blessed us with, tothank Him and to be good ser-vants to Him. Let us try to helpothers in need and also make duafor those who are in unbearableand dangerous conditions, andlet us make a concerted effortto help out in whatever way wecan. May Allah (SWT) guide usall to be better Muslims and toalways be grateful to Him forall His bounties. The Importance of Zhikr

Answer: Answer: Answer: Answer: Answer: Al-Hamdulillaah Zhikr / Remembrance of Allaah ishighly recommended in Qur’aan and Sunnah. The Holy ProphetMuhammad (S.A.W) used to make the Zhikr of Allaah regu-larly. In the Holy Qur’aan Ch: 2 V:152 Allaah says, “Rememberme, I shall remember you and be grateful and not ungrateful.”Al-Quraan Ch:13 V:28 Allaah says, ”Those who believe, andwhose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allaah:for without doubt in the remembrance of Allaah do hearts findsatisfaction. A man complained, “The laws of Islam (besidethe obligatory deeds) are too heavy for me, so tell me some-thing that I can easily follow,” the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)told him, “Let your tongue be always busy with the Zhikr ofAllaah.” “The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said, ‘When youpass by a garden of Paradise, avail yourselves to it.’ The com-panions asked, ‘What are the gardens, O Messenger of Allaah?’The Prophet Muhammad (SA.W) replied “The assemblies orcircles of Zhikr. There are some angels of Allaah who go aboutlooking for such assemblies of Zhikr, and when they find themthey surround them.” Many a times people gather in a groupand talk about trivial and irrelevant matters. Participating insuch vain conversations is clearly not recommended in Islam. Therefore, we should constantly remember Allaah (SWT) anddo Zhikr. The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said: “If people sitin an assembly in which they do not remember Allaah nor in-voke blessing on the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), it will be acause of grief for them on the Day of Judgment.” The ProphetMuhammad (S.A.W) narrated: “Allaah (SWT) says: ‘I am tomy servant as he expects of Me, I am with him when he re-members Me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I rememberhim to Myself, and if he remembers Me in an assembly, I men-tion him in an assembly better than his, and if he draws nearerto Me a hand’s span, I draw nearer to him an arm’s length, ifhe comes near Me a Cubit, I draw nearer to him a fathomlength, and if he comes to Me walking I run to him.”

The mostnoble in the sight of Allaah SWTis the most pious. No Arab issuperior to a non-Arab, exceptby their intimate consciousnessof Allaah SWT [piety].” Hereiterated the need for toleranceto people of all denominations:“an Arab has no superiority overa non-Arab, nor a non-Arab hasany superiority over an Arab; alsoa white has no superiority over ablack, nor a black has anysuperiority over white except bypiety and good action”.
