PRINTING THE PROFILE TEST PRINTOVER VIEW When you print the “Patch layout” you need to turn off the colour management in Adobe Photoshop on versions up to CS4. In the Epson printer driver you need to turn off all the possible enhancements. eg vivid colour. The only thing you have to choose is the resolution, the paper type and the orientation. In Adobe Photoshop CS5 do the following: Create a null transform, and turn off color management in the driver. Important: To avoid color shifts when using this Solution, Deselect the Send 16-bit Data option in Photoshop’s Print dialog box. This manual is written for Photoshop, but can be used with similar settings for Lightroom and other ICC profile compatible softwares.

1. Open the profile test print file image in Adobe Photoshop.2. CS5 ONLY Choose Edit > Assign Profile. CS4 go to step 4.3. CS5 Choose Adobe RGB ( 1998 ) in the Assign Profile dialog box.

4. Use the Photoshop text tool to fill in your name, phone number, email address, printer model, paper used and ink used. Ink is Advanced.5. Choose File > Print.6. This should be printed on the test print.

INSTALLING THE NEW PROFILEWhen you get the profile back via email you install it.On a PC by right-clicking on it and click on “Install Profile”. On a Mac you need to place it into “Library”, “Color Sync” and then “Profiles”.

PRINTING WITH THE NEW PROFILEWhen you print the images you find the profile under “Printer Profile”, as shown in “ b) “ on the previous page. For example: “Epson 7600 S-Pearl JetTec”. instead of Adobe RGB( 1998 ) Photoshop manages colours, Perceptual, and tick “Black Point Compensation” and then “Print”.

For best quality prints you want your original image file assigned as “Adobe RGB (1998) as in step 2 &3.In the Color Matching menu ‘ColorSync’ is preselected and not changable. Don’t worry-this setting will work correctly.Make sure to select the same paper type and quality settings that you used when creating your profiles, and that color management in the driver is turned off. Print your image. You should see a good screen to print match.

No Color Management or Color Adjustment.

Your paper type

PC uses go to step 9 MAC OS users; OSX 10.5 and 10.6 have introduced some significant changes to printer driver settings which may cause your prints to be darker than you expect when using ICC profiles.

8. Pull down the menu to “ Color matching “ The choices you see may vary depending on your printer driver. Choose EPSON Color Controls, Vendor Matching or other similar option. Do NOT choose ColorSync.
