SURFACE PREPARATION New surfaceNewsurfacerequirespreparationsuchasremovalofdust,dirtandforeignmatter. In caseof cracks, voids&damages it shouldberepaired.Surfacesshouldbe in just-wetcondition,prior toputtyapplication.

Old Unpainted SurfaceAllloosematerial,organicgrowth,dirt,dust,etc.mustberemovedwithsteelbladeorwirebrush.Surfaceshouldbeinjust-wetcondition,priortoputtyapplication.

Old Painted SurfaceScrubthesurfacewithcoarsewirebrush/sandpaperandcleanthoroughlyso that it is free fromoldpaint /dustparticles till thecementitious/plasteredsurfaceisseen.Surfacecouldbewashedwithwater, however ensuring that surface should be in just-wetcondition,priortoputtyapplication.

Very Rough SurfaceIfsurfaceplasterwasrough,1stapplywhitecement/whitecementmortarandlevelthesurface.Curethesurfacefor2days,beforestartingputtycoat.Surfaceshouldbe in just-wetcondition,priortoputtyapplication.

Very Smooth SurfaceIf the surfacewasmadeby cement ghutai (smoothening)whichnormally is very smooth, bondingwith puttymay not becomesufficientlystrong.Scrapingthesurfacewithemerystone/paperisrecommendedbeforeputtyapplication.Surfaceshouldbeinjust-wetcondition,priortoputtyapplication.

Area near the skirtingExtra care is recommended for the area adjacent to skirting ofthefloor (at leastareaup toone feetabove theskirting).Duringgrinding of the skirting and floor, slurry is generated. It sticks tothewalland ifnotcleanedproperly,wallputtyon itwillnotgivegoodresults.Chancesofflaking/pooradhesion.Areaat leastuptoonefeetabovetheskirtingshouldbecleanedwithwirebrushandwashedthoroughlysothatslurrydepositedonthewallduringgrinding is totally removed. After drying the wall, putty can beappliedasnormal.

Plaster showing sign of Efflorescence / salt depositionIf due to saltywateror salts in sand/bricks,problemof efflores-cenceisobservedthenplasteredsurfaceshouldbetreatedwithmild acid like citric acid before application of J.K.Wall putty.Otherwise,wallputtywillnotsticktothewallandproblemofflakingmayarise.After30minutesoftreatingthesurfacewithmildacid,surfaceshouldbewashedthoroughlysothatnoacidremainsonthewall.Afterdryingproperly,wallputtycanbeappliedasnormal.Thistreatmentshouldbedoneunderpropersupervision.

* just-wet condition could be achieved by applying coat of water with soft brush.** In case of wall exposed to sun, more water spraying shall be done to take away heat from the surface and then bring wall to just-wet condition.

PREPARATION OF J.K. WALL PUTTY PASTE • Takerequiredquantity

ofJ.K.WallPuttyinapan.

• Mix half of requiredwaterquantityintoit.

• Knead/MixthePutty& wait for few min-utes.

• Mixremainingquantityofwatertogetdesiredconsistency.• @35-40%waterby volume is required topreparepasteof

goodconsistency.• Mix vigorously for 5-10minutes formaking lump freeand

uniformpaste,asshown.• Productshouldbemixed insuchquantities that itcouldbe

usedwithin2hrsofitspreparation.• Mixingcouldbedonemanuallyorbysuitableelectricmixer.

COVERAGE We recommend:• Maximumtwocoats(Layers)ofJ.K.WallPutty.• Maximumthicknessof1stcoat(Layer)1.5mm.• Maximumthicknessof2ndcoat(Layer)1.0mm.• Approxachievablecoverageis35sqft./mmthickness/kgof

APPLICATION

• Ensure that surface is plastered OR made with cementitious ma-terial.

• Ensure that surface is totally clean.

• Ensure that surface is moderately rough (neither too-rough not too-smooth).

• Ensure that surface is just-wet. Over-wet-ting resulting in ac-cumulation of water on surface should be avoided.

• Apply first coat. Use spatula/blade/trowel on the wall with “bottom to top” Configuration.

• Apply second coat preferably after @ 4 hrs in hot season & after @ 12 hrs in cold season. Second coat shall be applied “horizontally” to even out application marks of 1st coat, if any.

• Re-mix putty paste again for @ 1 minute, if it is left un-disturbed for @ 30 minutes.

• Allow complete drying for @ 3 days and then use fine emery paper to remove application mark, if any

OR• Half an hour after application of 2nd coat smoothening

could be done with trowel.• Paint could be done after 3 or more days of putty work

but it shall be ensured that putty is completely dry before applying paint.

• Clean application tools with clean water.

PRECAUTION

• AlthoughJ.K.WallPuttydonotcontainanytoxicmaterial,userubbergloveswhilemixing.

• Precautionshouldbetakentoavoiddustinhalationwhilehan-dlingputtypowderorduringremovalofapplicationmarkswithfineemerypaper-saywearingnosemask.

• Keeptheproductoutofreachofchildren.

• Onceputtypastehashardened,itshallnotbeusedbyaddingwater.

WETTING

Usualcuringwithlotofwaterisnotneeded.Keepinginviewtheambienttemperature,needbasedwettingisrecommended.

• Just-wetthesurface,priortoputtyapplication.• Afterapplyingfirstcoatwetthesurfacegently.• Afterapplicationofsecondcoat,wetsurfacetwiceadayfor

atleastoneday,ifseasondemandsit.Watershallbeappliedgently.
