Are you a woman who enjoys a lively discussion about our Catholic faith? Are you interested in establishing prayer- mate companions? If you do, then Women of the Word welcomes YOU! We are a group of parishioners and friends who meet once a month on a Saturday beginning at 9:30 AM in the Pasto-ral Life Center (there is plenty of room for social distancing.). Our time together consists of prayer as well as listening to guest speakers via the internet or discussing a religious topic or book. Please bring your own snack. 2020 The Jesse Tree Program has begun! As Advent approaches, we are reminded of the journey of the three wise men to deliver gifts to the Christ child. Through our Jesse Tree Program, you too can provide a gift to a child in need. Each of the angel tags on the tree represent a child who otherwise might not receive a Christmas present. Please take as many angel tags as you would like from the tree, purchase the gift wish on the tag, and return the wrapped gift (with the angel/ornament tag attached) to the church vestibule no later than 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 6th. We encourage the use of gift bags vs. wrapping paper, where possible. This makes it easier to confirm that the gift matches what is on the wish list and enables the parents a "sneak peek". If you are unable to shop for a gift but would still like to partici-pate, you can make a cash, check or gift card donation to the program. Please put your contribution in an envelope and place it inside the box in the vestibule or you can also send it by mail to the church or have it picked up. Please mark Jesse Tree on the envelope. The church is open weekdays and weekend for tag selection or gift drop off. Gift or contribution pick-up is availa-ble, please contact Michelle by phone/text: 267-994-0580 or email: [email protected] to make arrangements. Thank you for helping to bring the wonder and magic of Christ-mas into the life of a local child in need. A special thank you to everyone who helped making angel tags and writing wishes last weekend! Many hands make work light! Our Jesse Tree Program would not be possible without all of you!
Thank you to all our Angel Tag Makers!
On Sunday, November 1, 2020, Deacon Jonathan Hess baptized :
Violet Ann Samson daughter of Daniel and Lara Samson

Packing Care Bags for Needy Children – November 15th – 1 to 3 in the school cafeteria. The bags will contain handmade hats and scarves made by parishioners as well as socks and gloves purchased by Social Concerns. The bags will go to needy children in Philadelphia. All are welcome to help. Social Concerns Meeting—November 18th –7:00 PM in the Parish Offices. Meals for the Homeless—November 27th—we will be doing a pasta dish of your choice with a side and a roll or bread. Desserts will be provided. If able to help with this, send an email to [email protected].
This defini ve film, made in honor of the 100th anniversary of her death (1897), tells the story of the life of St. Thérèse of Li-sieux from childhood to her holy death as a Carmelite nun.
Founder of the Knights of Columbus, Father Michael McGivney is a documentary that brings to life the story of one of Ameri-ca’s most extraordinary Catholic priests. Born in Connec cut to Irish immigrant parents, he grew up at a me when millions of Catholic immigrants were struggling to overcome poverty and prejudice. This film offers a rare glimpse into the life of an extraordinary priest and visionary leader.

“My heart was always hungry for an adventure. After High School, my adventure began as I trained to become a Naval Special Warfare Combatant Crew-men (SWCC). I trained in California and it was tough – both physically and mentally. Once I graduated, I was deployed to Iraq twice. It was truly a great ad-
venture, but still there was something missing. It was not until after I left the military and went to college that I realized what was missing in my life – the Lord. He revealed to me that He was with me all along, even when I was ignor-ing Him, even when I did not know Him or even when I may have ques-
I have been at the seminary for six years now and it has been a true blessing. I have found a new brotherhood with a deep sense of mission. I now sit here as a Deacon with a lot of history in my own life, a windy road, but the Lords grace was always there. Ultimately the Lord will use me as a vessel of His Grace. I look to be His hands for people. And to bring His life, through the sacraments, to teach people and live it out in my own life. The seminary’s mission is quite unique and special in the life of this world and in the life of the world to come.” - Rev. Mr. Mark Tobin
MY ADVENTURE WAS CALLING PRIESTLY FORMATION
PLEASE GIVE TO THE
PREP is in full swing and I feel that an overview of the curriculum for PREP would provide an understanding of the mate-rial that is covered in each grade level. Our enrollment can be increased if you just reach out to someone that you know is of school age and is not attending PREP. There are so many students who can be part of this program but for some reason do not come. Our goal is to provide a positive experience for everyone who crosses our threshold while imparting the Catholic tenets that will increase their love for God and our Catholic faith.
CURRICULUM GR K - God has many gifts and He is our Creator, who through Jesus shows us His love. Activities, stories, songs, and prayers assist the children gain a sense of belonging to God's family.
GR 1- God loves us and we are special in the eyes of our Creator. The students learn that Jesus died and rose to new life, and that each person is a vital part of a parish community.
GR 2 - The students prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. They study the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation and the lives of saints and Mary.
GR 3 - The students learn about the basic prayers and understand that the Mass is the center of our religious belief.
GR 4- Students learn how God's laws guide us and teaches us to respond to the call of holiness. They learn that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light. The Commandments, Precepts of the Church, the lives of saints, feasts, devotions, and Catholic practices are taught.
GR 5 -Students learn that Jesus shares His life and mission with us through the celebration of the seven sacraments. The definition, meaning, symbols, and minister of each sacrament is studied.
GR 6 - The curriculum concentrates on preparing the students for their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 7. The year also focuses on the study of the Old Testament as the root of our Catholic faith. There is a direct connection made between what is required learning for Confirmation and how this Sacrament is rooted in the Bible. The Person of Jesus is explored and the need for service above self is stressed. GR 7 - The students focus on their sacramental life, on building a strong relationship with God through prayer and commu-nity service. The connection of the Creed, Church History, New and Old Testament, and Liturgy of the Word are presented. The students attend their Confirmation retreat, complete their service hours, delve deep into the life of the Saint they have chosen for their Confirmation name and become the presenters of the parish SAINT MUSEUM. Our hope is that they more fully understand their responsibilities as members of the Catholic Church.
toned His existence –He was there. He showed me that in a very spe-cial grace. Within that grace came a new mission, a mission to a greater adventure in my life—St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.
