WEEKEND CONTRIBUTIONS Sunday Contributions for Weekend of: June 7, 2020 Weekend Contributions: $30,847.01 Includes online giving of: $11,348.00

On June 13th one of our own parish sons, Kenneth Cavara, was ordained a Deacon. We welcomed him home as he preached at the 10:00 Mass the next day and participated in our Corpus Christi Procession. Deacon Cavara is assigned to St. Andrew Parish in Newtown for the coming year. With God’s grace he will be ordained a priest next May. We offer Deacon Cavara and his family our prayerful congratulations and share in their joy! On the same day our parish also experienced the joy of Carly D’Angelo and Jaqueline Mc Kenna being initiated into our Church with the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. At the 10:00 Mass this weekend Gwen Becker, Laurie Grab, Mitchell Kreiter, Cody Nodis and Dar-ren Whitelock will be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. They will make the Profession of Faith and celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. All of them are an inspiration for us to live our faith daily as disciples of Jesus Christ as the parish family of St. Agnes. With all of the challenges in our world at this time they are bright lights of hope for us. The Responsorial Psalm this Sunday assures us to always trust in God’s providence: “Lord, in your great love, answer me.” In Christ’s love, Fr. Costa

FLAME OF LOVE The Flame of Love Rosary is resuming in the Chapel each Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to noon. All are invited to come and pray the rosary for our Priests, the Dying, Souls in pur-gatory, Families, the Unborn, and personal petitions. Come with your mask. We sit at a distance from each other. Come and learn more about this special movement to bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary as prophesied at Fatima. Mary is the Medi-atrix of all graces. Our Lady’s Promise is that “With this Flame you will light all hearts in the world. This Flame will become a fire, and with its shining Light, this fire will blind Satan.” So that by its effect, humanity will be converted. The Flame of Love is Christ’s Love. For further in-formation, contact Cheryl at email [email protected], or 610-696-7706. Visit also www.flameoflove.us.

ST. AGNES VOCATIONS Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thank you for your support and prayers in antici-pation of my ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacon. Throughout the rite of ordination, I was filled with a profound sense of gratitude, peace, and joy. There is no doubt that the prayers of my parish family were an important part of such a grace filled day. I would also like to especially thank Fr. Costa for allowing me to preach and assist for Mass on Corpus Christi. Last weekend was an incredible and significant moment for me on the path to the priesthood.

The encouragement from so many parishioners and the witness of your Christian discipleship has been a constant source of inspiration. It has been a great blessing to grow up in a parish surrounded by your perseverance and fidelity to Christ and His Church.

On June 2, I began my new assignment at St. Andrew’s Parish in Newtown. Please continue to pray for me as I begin to serve Christ and His Church as a deacon. Please be assured of my prayers for you. May the Lord continue to bless you and our Blessed Mother watch over you. St. Agnes, pray for us!

Sincerely in Christ, Deacon Kenneth Cavara

PARISH NEWS

RCIA ANNOUNCEMENT Congratulations to five new members of our Church! This weekend, we welcome baptized Christians who, guided by the Holy Spirit, have chosen to embrace the Catholic Faith and live as disciples of Jesus through our Catholic Church. For the past 12-18 months, these fervent persons: Gwendolyn Becker, Laurie Grab, Mitchell Kreiter, Cody Nodis, and Darren Whitlock, have been growing in loving Jesus and our Catholic Faith through R.C.I.A. They will profess their belief in the teachings of the Catholic Church, and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at the 10:00 A.M. Mass this Sunday. Congratulations, Gwen, Laurie, Mitch, Cody, and Darren! Thank you for being witnesses to us!

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION Last Sunday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Precious Body and Blood of Jesus, also known as Corpus Christi Sunday. The Eucharist is the greatest gift that God could have possibly giv-en to us because it is the gift of His very self. The Eucharist is not a symbolic gift but is really, truly the Body and Blood of Jesus. It is His life given to us to sustain our lives into eternity. To celebrate this great gift, last Sunday afternoon we gathered in the church and had a Eucharistic Procession, carrying the Blessed Sacrament outside of the church, down New Street,

across the parking lot, and to an altar prepared in front of Kelly Hall, where we had a Scripture reading and Benediction before returning to the church. Some people joined in the procession while others participated from their cars. Thank you to all who participated in helping to witness to Christ’s presence in West Chester!

WELCOME HOME. It has been a joy to welcome you back to public Mass and receiving Holy Communion, thanks be to God! As you have probably noticed, things are a little bit different at St. Agnes in these days. All of our current measures are for your safety and the safety of our most vulnerable parishioners. While we realize that COVID-19 measures may be becoming exhausting, we are asking that you please do not grow weary in following our procedures so that we can continue to safely come together as a community and be one with our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. There are a few points that we would especially like to highlight:

The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation is suspended until further notice. This means that no one is obligated to come to Mass. Those who are sick, el-derly, or with other pre-existing conditions are encouraged to stay home. We will continue to provide live-streamed Masses on Sunday. Please put on your mask before entering church and leave your mask on your face, covering your nose and mouth, for the entirety of Mass. Because of people moving around the church during Mass and commun-ion, it is not appropriate to remove your mask when you get to your seat. When it is time for Holy Communion, we will begin at the back of the church, moving down the side aisles toward the front of the church. At this time, every-one is encouraged to receive Holy Com-munion in the hand. If you would prefer to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, please use the station in the cen-ter of the church, where the minister will sanitize between each communicant. At the end of Mass, please proceed promptly to the church exits, being mindful of maintain-ing social distance with those around you so that the church can be properly sanitized before the next mask Please do not congregate for any reason inside or outside of the church.

We are extremely grateful for your cooperation, which allows us to continue to be able to care for your spiritual and temporal needs safely and effectively. Welcome home!

No debe-rían separarse.

Reto-men una presencia significativa.
