MUSICAL NOTES
Open Choir Rehearsals
The St. Helen Music Ministry
invites anyone who is curious
about music ministry to join us
for an open rehearsal. This is a great opportunity to
get a feel for rehearsals, learn about music ministry
opportunities, and most importantly... have fun prais-
ing God. "Visitors" do not need to participate in the
open rehearsal, but are welcome to sing along. Open
rehearsals (with no commitment to join the choir) will
continue on September 26 and October 3. For more
information, contact Ellen--
Can You Lend a Hand?
The Handbell Choir needs you! We are hoping
to add three ringers to our ranks this year. If you have
patience, can count to 6, and know your left from
right, then this ministry just might be for you! We in-
vite anyone 6th grade and above to try it out. This is a
great ministry for kids and parents to be involved in
together. The commitment is approximately 1 hour a
week, plus mass once a month or so. Rehearsals are
typically Wednesday night at 6pm, but that isn't set in
stone. For more information, contact Ellen--
Men’s Choir
The St. Helen Men's choir will be singing for
the 5pm mass on September 29. They will gather at
4pm to rehearse that day. All men High School age
and up are welcome to join. Please e-
mail [email protected] if you have
any questions.
YOUR LIFE, YOUR LEGACY Most of us plan for important life events.
However, few of us prepare for the inevitable. “Your
Life, Your Legacy” is a program that addresses the
advantages of pre-arranging a traditional funeral or
cremation service, including the steps involved in the
planning process. This session provides information
on preplanning as well as resources for learning addi-
tional information. No selling will take place and we
do not discuss pricing. This is an information session
only.
Join us at one of two sessions, October 9 @
11:00 a.m. or October 11th at 5:30 p.m., both in the
St Julie Center meeting room. The session usually
runs 45 minutes, including questions, and is limited to
25 participants to give everyone an opportunity to
participate. Pre-registration is required so please
contact Mel, in the parish office, at 254-6233 or email
We will provide handout materials, door
prizes, and a meal, in the St Julie center dining
room, as our thank you for allowing us to continue
the importance of educating our neighbors on the val-
ue of Preplanning.
ST. HELEN CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

your calendars for Saturday, December 1st. We

TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
IN 2016, REPRESENTATIVES FROM BETHLEHEM CHRISTIAN
FAMILIES
CAME TO ST. HELEN TO SELL OLIVE WOOD CARVINGS MADE
BY WOODCARVERS IN THE HOLY LAND.
Several parishioners asked if they could come back again at a time when they
could shop for family members for Christmas items.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
FOR THE WEEKEND OF
OCTOBER 6 & 7!
We are proud to introduce ourselves as the “Bethlehem Chris-
tian Families” from the Holy Land. We have come to the United
States representing the Christian wood carvers of Bethlehem
that rely on the tourism to support their families.
Due to the dire situation and the interruption of the tourist trade,
500 families of the Holy Land are in danger of having to leave their homes in search
of work. Our mission is to bring and sell the olive wood carvings to Catholic church-
es in the United States to help the Christian families remain in their homes and sup-
port their families. These Christians who make their livelihood through the selling of
their hand-carved olive wood religious items are depending on us to bring these
beautiful carvings, such as nativity scenes, crucifixes, pictures of the Last Supper,
and several other religious items to you.
Carvings will be available to parishioners of St. Helen the weekend of
October 6&7, 2018
Please support this self-help project that enables to keep Christians present in the Ho-
ly Land. Your help and understanding in this crucial matter are greatly appreciated.
