PARISH GARDEN We have begun planting the vegetables! Ear-

ly lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, and onions are in the

ground! If you would like to contribute to your gar-

den, we could use seeds for, green beans, zucchini,

salad cucumbers, and squash, as well as tomato, pep-

per plants and some marigold plants. These can all be

dropped off at the parish office (leave them at the

door if no one is in), or seeds placed in the Sunday

collection basket. If you would like more infor-

mation, or might be interested in contributing your

time to our garden, contact Sue at the parish office, at

254-6233 x313.

A HUGE thank you to Marty Walling for till-

ing the ground for our garden!

CATCH THE BUILDING SPIRIT Catch the Building Spirit is at it again for our 27th year of building a home for a family in need. We excit-

ed to get started with “Blitz Week” starting Memorial Day weekend and working through the next Friday May 31,

to have the house under roof. Then we take the summer to complete the home for Jeremy Evans and Tiffany

Reynolds and their 4 children. Destiny Evans is their 4 year old daughter who has multiple surgeries for her rare

form of Spina Bifida. She is lively and enthusiastic, but she will require the use of a wheelchair for her life. This

house will serve the family well, especially this daughter who is excited to wheel up to the counter to help cook

and to be able to brush her teeth in the bathroom. Once again we could use assistance

through volunteers and donations. As in previous years we are funding 100% off the

home for our Partner. We encourage you to join us for either Blitz week (May 25 –

May 31) or throughout the summer for our build. Also for Blitz week we could use

lunch meals and as always we welcome donations and prayers. Details are at

www.catchthebuildingspirit.org or Call John at 694-9603 or Hank at 429-0360.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL/YOUTH MISSION

TOTUS TUUS (Totally Yours), is a week-long parish mission for youth and it’s com-

ing to Saint Helen parish June 16 through the 21. Students going into grades 1 – 6 next

fall are invited to participate in the Children’s program Monday thru Friday from 9:00

AM to 2:30PM for catechesis, games, Mass, songs, Reconciliation, and a chance to

build a stronger relationship with Christ. Teens entering grades 7 - 12 are invited to

come to a Teen Program each evening, Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 PM to 9:00

PM. The mission is led by a team of young adults who are on fire for our faith and

share that faith with the whole parish throughout their time with us for TOTUS TUUS.

The theme for this year’s catechesis is the Sacraments and Sorrowful Mysteries of the

Rosary. For more information about TOTUS TUUS, please contact Sean Kelly at 937-

254-6233 or email [email protected]. I hope to see you and your family there this summer!!!

Open Registration will be held May 25 & 26, June 1 & 2, and June 8 & 9 in the vestibule of church.

VBS ADULT PROGRAM

It’s not only for the young ones this year!

Monday, June 16 – Thursday, June 21, 2019

9:15-10:45 a.m. St. Julie Center

Join us for an engaging week of looking at how various parents and grandparents throughout the

history of our faith tradition dealt with difficult and disappointing children, reluctant teenagers, the vari-

ous trials of parenting, and all the many different joys and delights family life brought them! How did

they live holy and meaningful lives in the midst of it all? What can their stories teach us today? We will

talk about Mary the Blessed Mother, Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, and St. Helen, as well as several more con-

temporary holy people, including Enrique Shaw, Dorothy Day and Hildegard Burjan. Be prepared for

discussions, prayer, videos and presentations, as well as plenty of sharing and coffee!

NO COST to participants! CHILDCARE AVAILABLE! Registration not necessary (except to ar-

range childcare), but encouraged. Drop-ins welcome. Contact Sue Sack at 254-6233 ext 313 or email

[email protected] for more information.

HELLO WONDERFUL ST. HELEN

COMMUNITY! The St. Helen Festival is fast approaching and

I am one of the co-chairs of the Funnel Cake Booth.

This year the St. Helen Festival is on Friday, June 7th;

Saturday, June 8th; and Sunday, June 9th. We NEED

volunteers to work this booth. It's fun, easy, and no

prior experience is required. All we need is a few

hours of your time.

Because of the nature of the funnel cake booth

(hot oil), we can't have any children working the

booth, but we can use as many people age 16 or older

that are able to work as we can get.

If you are willing to help us out with a shift or

two, please use the link below to sign up.

FESTIVAL DOLL BOOTH We are still in need of doll dressers for our

popular doll booth! We would love to get about 48

more dolls dressed to ensure we can keep the booth

open all weekend long. Can you dress 6 dolls for

us? Please stop by the parish or school office to pick

them up, and return anytime during festival set-

up. Contact Lisa, 902-9905 for more info.
