ABOUT  VOORHEES  TWP. ▪  The Coliseum is located in Voorhees Township, Camden County, New Jersey, 08043

▪  Voorhees Township contains approximately 11.492 square miles in land area, and has a total population of 29,271 people as of the 2010 Census, up 3.3% from the 2000 census of 28,126 persons. Voorhees borders the Camden County communities of Berlin Township, Cherry Hill Township, Gibbsboro, Lindenwold, and Somerdale. To the east is Evesham Township in Burlington County. The estimated median household income for zip code 08043 for 2010 was $96,605 compared to $69,400 for New Jersey as a whole.

▪  Voorhees Township is located in the center of Camden County. Interstate 295 is to the west. Route 42, the Black Horse Pike and Route 30, the White Horse Pike are to the west. Route 70, Marlton Pike, is to the north. Route 73 is to the east. Within the township, a large amount of residential development occurred from the 1980’s onward.

▪  Voorhees Township contains 11.6 square miles and is located approximately 10 miles east of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is approximately midway between New York and Washington D.C. The New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 295 provide access to the New York/Washington corridor. Voorhees Township contains all of the features that make a community desirable, i.e., first-class housing developments, stately estates, commercial centers and a large industrial/office area. The local school system is well respected throughout the area and Voorhees is among the finest residential communities in South Jersey.

▪  The median housing value in Voorhees is one the highest in Camden County at $330,211 as of 2011 compared to $324,900 for New Jersey. Voorhees is well known for its quality housing and an excellent school system. Older, single-family detached residential developments, apartments and multi-family condominium complexes are in the western section of the Township near or in the Echelon Town Center. Newer, predominantly single-family detached projects are in the less developed areas in the eastern part of Voorhees.

▪  Over 75% of the population is employed in executive managerial, professional, technical, sales, and service and support occupations. Many of those who live in Voorhees work in the township. Major corporations like American Water Works, United Engineers and West Jersey Hospital, now Virtua Health Systems, have made Voorhees Township their home. Other major employers in the Township include the Echelon Town Center.

▪  The Coliseum’s immediate neighborhood is mixed-use in character with emphasis upon residential use. To the north of the subject there are single-family, detached houses on several streets which run off Preston Avenue. One the east side of Preston Avenue, directly across the street from the subject property, is the Robin Hill apartment complex. Immediately to the south of the subject, on the north side of Sycamore Avenue, is a small abandoned industrial building owned by Voorhees Township. On the south side of Sycamore Avenue is a development of 35 single-family homes known as Country Lane.

▪  Preston Avenue runs north for less than one-half mile to Evesham Road, a well-traveled, north-south through street. The Ashland station of the Lindenwold Hi-Speed Line, which connects with Philadelphia is several blocks north. Less than one-half mile to the south, Preston Avenue intersects Somerdale Road. This local connector road runs past the Echelon Center, less than one-half mile to the northeast. Two miles to the north is a full interchange of Interstate Route 295.
