5th Grade Virtual Movie Night
Save the Date! On Friday, February 19th at 7:00 p.m., the PTA Fifth Grade Farewell Committee will host an online movie night. Voting forms will be sent out soon to select the movie for the event. We will provide a package of microwavable popcorn for the movie. It will be placed inside the 3rd quarter materials that will be distributed later this month. The popcorn is nut safe but does contain butter/dairy. If your student has a dairy allergy or intolerance and you would like your student to have an un-buttered package, please email [email protected] with your student's name and teacher's name by Wednesday, January 20th. We will make arrangements to get your student the package they require.

Girls on the Run at JLES:
Interested in signing up your grades 3-5 daughter for Girls on the Run?
What is Girls on the Run? Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Completing a 5K at the end of the season gives them a tangible opportunity to apply all that they have learned.
*If you are interested in signing your daughter up for our JLES Spring GOTR team, registration will begin on February 15th at 9:00am.
Spring 2021 GOTR info:
• We will meet on Mondays & Thursdays at Aberdeen Park from 3:45 - 5:00pm. • GOTR is for 3rd - 5th grade girls only.
• Our team is limited to 15 girls. • We will meet starting on Thursday, April 8th, and end the spring season the week of May 28th. • Each girl receives a program t-shirt, entry to the GOTR 5K, and a finishers medal. • Cost: $150 - Standard in-person/combination program registration fee
$75 - Families that qualify for reduced meals through the MCPS FARMS program
$15 - Families that qualify for free meals through the MCPS FARMS program and/or have a household income under $40,000
**Full financial assistance is available to families experiencing financial hardship.**

Buddy Program for Kindergartners and now welcoming First Graders!
The JLES PTA launched the Buddy Program earlier this year. We pair up students and/or families (one 5th Grade Mentor, with one Kindergartner or First Grader) to provide some extra support for your Jones Lane Jaguar! We currently have about ten 5th Graders waiting to be paired with a Kindergartener/First Grader.
To sign up, complete the Google Form titled Kindergarten/1st Grade-5th Grade Buddy Program, JLES, https://forms.gle/ J3PKozJaSUDzd2Lc7.
We will pair up buddies on a rolling basis - so you can join anytime. Throughout the year, we will also provide suggestions of how to start communication, along with monthly writing prompts for the kids.

RMS PTSA Emergency Food Pantry Request Form
The RMS PTSA has established an Emergency Food Pantry to help students, families, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. This service is for low-income members of the RMS school community and may be open to QOHS cluster schools as quantities allow. Students, caregivers, or staff can submit a request for food and the PTSA will deliver a "Bobcat Box" within 1 business day. Questions or suggestions? Email [email protected]. RMS PTSA “Bobcat Box” Little Free Pantry
Our “Bobcat Box” Little Free Pantry is officially open for business! BIG thanks to our sponsor Beth Chai for donating this wonderful outdoor cabinet. All members of the RMS family and our feeders school community are welcome to use it. The process is simple- come take food when you need it, give food when you can. No sign-ups or questions. Look for the “Bobcat Box” next to the flagpole in front of the school.

Box Tops
Our school received a check for $73.20 in December thanks to the Box Tops program. In previous years this amount was closer to $400, but any little bit helps these days! Even though contests and campaigns for the program aren’t happening this year, you can still support our elementary school by scanning your store receipts (grocery, Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc).
Download the Box Tops App and all you have to do is create an account, link it to Jones Lane Elementary School (school id: 142615) and scan your store receipts (within 14 days of purchase) and funds are automatically allocated to our school.The app automatically identifies Box Tops products and adds them to your school’s earnings. Noche de película virtual de 5o grado

¿Qué es Girls on the Run? Girls on the Run es un programa de desarrollo juvenil positivo transformacional basado en la actividad física. Enseñamos habilidades para la vida a través de lecciones dinámicas e interactivas y juegos de carrera. El objetivo del programa es dar rienda suelta a la confianza a través del logro mientras se establece una apreciación de por vida de la salud y el estado físico.
