Mobility: Regional StrategyPTD – Territorial Development Program (2008)Promoting Sustainable Mobility by supporting initiatives to use of non-motorized and collective modes of transport, with Mobility ManagementPlans. Development of multimodal systems for the improvement ofaccessibility in the different forms of sustainable mobility and improvement ofthe public transport service.

PDCT – Territorial Cohesion and DevelopmentPact (2013)

Development a sustainable and integrated system of transport and regional mobility, namely, implementation of the Inter-modal Mobility and Transport Plan of the Region of Aveiro (PIMTRA), promotion of the Cluster of bicycle and sustainable mobility, provision of a service system to the population articulated with the Education, industrial activity and health in semi-urban areas, development of an urban public transport system that connect the main urban centers in the region and development of the rail freight link to Spain.

European Cycling Challenge

Aveiro Region participated in the European Cycling Challenge 2016, ranking first in Portugal and in 36th place among the 52 European cities-regions, with 14.152km, in the first year of competition.

Ria de Aveiro´s Big Route

This project consists of the creation of a Ria de Aveiro´s Big Route, withmultimodal characteristics that allow the experience of different valences,namely pedestrian, cycling and nautical.

The creation of this route presupposes the implementation of theinfrastructures, including signage and structures to support visitors, thecreation of an identity and the implementation of a marketing andcommunication plan based on the Ria de Aveiro.

The definition of the route is based on the premises, in addition to the inclusionof the Classified Areas, the interconnection with existing routes in eachmunicipality, as a result of investments in own networks of Pedestrian Routes,MTB Centers and Cycle routes.
