and some variations…

Fold a piece of A3 paper in half lengthways. Write 7 words in the first column and the English meanings in the second column. Use your book to check you get it right.

Fold over the 1st column so that only the English meanings are visible.

Write the French words as best you can from memory in column 3. Open it up and check your answers.

Now fold over columns 1 and 2 to practise the English meanings in column 4. Check your answers. And so on.

Get a good visual image…. like Marge for example….

Home Learning…

1. You are being given a group of 21 words. In groups of 7 words you need to try a minimum of 3 different vocabulary learning styles. You will evaluate the styles and feed back to the rest of the class in the next lesson and there may be a vocab test.

2. Can you think of any other ways to learn vocabulary?

3. In what other subject areas/tasks could you use these skills? Give three examples with reasons for your answers.

Revising Grammar

• Review the main grammar points that are covered in your textbook chapters. All the grammar points are laid out in the back of the textbook.

• Condense the main rules down into notes and use your highlighters and coloured pens to make the notes clear.

• Use the extra grammar exercises in the backs of your books to practise a particular rule.

• Show your teacher and ask them for advice if you need it. They will be happy to help you!

Past

Present

Future

Print out the tenses timeline and write out verbs / sentences in each of the tenses……

J’ai joué au foot. Je joue au foot. Je vais jouer au foot.

Past

Present

Future

First make your cards…..

You can either do two sets, one with the MFL and the other with the

English…..

Or you can do one set of cards with the MFL

on the front and English on the back.

Don’t forget,

the words

on your cards can be colour coded too!

With two sets, you can play pairs…. turn the

cards face down and pick them

up in twos until

you get pairs.

Get someone to test you from your cards.

Test yourself, putting the cards into a ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ pile until the

‘wrong’ pile is non existent!
