• The core content taught in these strands is reinforced through working mathematically and building proficiency through: – Understanding includes connecting names, numerals and quantities.– Fluency includes readily counting numbers in sequences, continuing

patterns, and comparing the lengths of objects.– Problem Solving includes using materials to model authentic

problems, sorting objects, using familiar counting sequences to solve unfamiliar problems, and discussing the reasonableness of the answer.

Australian CurriculumSCIENCE, GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY

• History/Geography• What is my history and how do I know? In this unit students will explore their

personal story, including their family history. They will investigate who the people in their family are and where they were born and raised through an appreciation of family stories. Students will also develop an understanding of how family members are related to each other and will make these connections within their own families. In addition, students will have the opportunity to investigate maps and their features, and a globe as the representation of the world. They will take a journey 'around the world' to explore their family origins and place their photographs and names on a classroom world map.
