July 11, 2014 Dear HARPDI members and generous donors, I am very pleased to report that as of June 30, 2014, which was the end of our first fiscal year, we have already participated in the completion of thirty nine (39) classrooms plus a principal's office in three (3) schools in Ormoc City. They are as follows: 1. We have constructed twelve (12) brand new classrooms and reconstructed another twelve (12) classrooms plus the principal's office in San Jose Elementary School. The cost of construction reached P10.7 million or about US$246,000.00. We used the funds we received from Rotary Danmarks Hjaelpefond and Districts 1440, 1450, 1460, 1470 and 1480 from Denmark which amounted to US$182,532.04, and the P3.0 million donation {about US$69,000.00) from United Coconut Ufe Assurance Corporation (Cocolife) to complete this school which we turned over to the Department of Education on June 16, 2014. The ceremony was attended by HARPDI members RID Guiller Tumangan, PDG Jess Nicdao, PDG Jess Citra, PDG Ambo Gancayco, PDG Herman Gamboa, PDG Perok Rodriguez (Project Manager) and myself, as well as some members of the Rotary Club of Ormoc led by Pres. Troy Bumagat and PP Anna Bumagat. 2. In the case of Patag Elementary School, three (3) classrooms were rebuilt by three {3) Rotary Clubs, namely: Rotary Club of Cebu West, Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente, and Rotary Club of Raffles City (RI District 3310). The reconstruction of the remaining nine (9) classrooms was started by the Rotary Club of Ormoc with Byond Disaster Response. They invited HARPDI to join the project by providing the needed roofing materials to complete the reconstruction to which we agreed. We spent approximately P1.0 million (about US$23,000.00) for these roofing materials, and we used part of the donation we received from the Taiwan Past District Governors for this school. If you will recall, we received NT$1.0 million (US$33, 730.26) from them last December during the Taipei Rotary Institute which was personally given by Rl President Gary Huang, PRID Jackson Hsieh and RIDE Frederick Lin to PRIP M. A. T. Caparas and RID Guiller Tumangan. This school was also turned over to the Department of Education last June 16, { 2014 with the same HARPDI members present.

Dear HARPDI members and generous donors,

I am very pleased to report that as of June 30, 2014, which was the end of our first fiscal year, we have already participated in the completion of thirty nine (39) classrooms plus a principal's office in three (3) schools in Ormoc City. They are as follows:

3. Our partner, Cocolife, also completed three (3) brand new classrooms in Valencia Central Elementary School, and they in turn invited us to participate by funding one classroom in the amount of P500,000.00 or approximately US$11,500.00 to which we agreed. We used the US$8,827.00 (A$!0,000.00) donation we received from Rl District 9520, Southern South Australia, Sunraysia Districts and Broken Hill, as well as the US$3,446.66 donation from Rotary District 3450 Charitable Fund Limited (Hongkong) for this project. We were able to inspect these new classrooms during our June 16, but were not able to join the formal turnover to the Department of Education which was held on June 20, 2014. We were however represented by PDG Perok Rodriguez and other Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Ormoc.

We are now working on the completion of twenty eight (28) more classrooms which we hope to complete in a couple of months. They are as follows:

1. The reconstruction of the thirteen (13) classrooms at Linao Central Elementary School {also in Ormoc City) was started by Rl District 3780 under then Governor Francis Rivera together with Shelter for Humanity. The reconstruction was continued by Byond Disaster Response, and we have agreed to join forces with them to complete the reconstruction of this school. We expect to spend about Pl.l million or about US$25,300.00 for this project and we will use the US$24,967.00 we received from Rotary Club 29 Foundation Oklahoma City, USA for this school.

2. Similar to linao Central Elementary School, the reconstruction of the thirteen (13) classrooms at Naungan Elementary School (also in Ormoc City) was started by Rl District 3780, Shelter for Humanity, and Byond Disaster Response, and we were again asked to complete the reconstruction of this school where we expect to spend about P1.6 million or approximately US$36,800.00. Here, we will use the Pl,640,411.20 donation we received from Rotary International District 5300.

3. Another two (2) classrooms are now being reconstructed at longuingot Elementary School in an island in Estancia, Iloilo. Cost of reconstruction would be about P800,000.00 or about US$18,400 and we will use the P897,697.45 donation from Rotary District 5330 Foundation for this school.

(

We also approved the reconstruction of fifty two (52) classrooms in the following schools which we hope to bid out before end of this month and complete construction by October or November this year. They are as follows:

1. Batad National High School in Batad, Iloilo with eighteen (18) classrooms at an estimated cost of P2.2 million or about US$50,600.00;

2. Caries Central Elementary School in Caries, Iloilo with twelve (12) classrooms and a function hall at an estimated cost of P3.1 million or about US$71,300.00;

3. Tingui-an Elementary School in Balasan, Iloilo with five (5) classrooms at an approximate cost of P1.8 million or about US$41,400.00; and

4. Sofronio A. Cordovero Integrated School in Roxas City in Capiz with seventeen (17) classrooms at an approximate cost of P2.6 million or about US$59,800.00.

For the first three schools mentioned above, we plan to use the expected £93,000.00 donation from the RIBI Donations Trust to be augmented by various donations from different sources which we have already received. For the school in Roxas City, we plan to use the expected US$50,000 donation solicited by PDG Rudy Balmater of Rl District 3410 from his client, again to be augmented by funds we have already received from various donors.

Should all these projects be completed this November as planned, we would have completed one hundred nineteen (119) classrooms, a principal's office and a function hall.

I am also enclosing some photos taken during the very memorable turnover of San Jose Elementary School and Patag Elementary School as well as our site visit at Valencia Central Elementary School. I have also enclosed a two minute video I prepared on the successful turnover of San Jose Elementary School and Patag Elementary School, which I am hoping you can share with your district leaders, clubs .in your respective districts and even your foreign sister clubs so that we can attract more donations. I have also attached a scanned copy of the four page interim report we prepared and distributed to Rotary senior leaders and friends during the recent Rotary International Convention in Sydney.

We will continue to build more classrooms as we receive more donations. {

As you are probably aware, I already stepped down as President of Help & Assistance for Rotary Philippine Districts, Inc. during our annual meeting held last June 27, 2014. I am, however, staying as Trustee. I had to step down as President of HARPDI so that I can already start working as Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2015 Manila Institute to be held here in Manila on November 6 to 8, 2015. I am very pleased to announce that the very reliable and hardworking Trustee of HARPDI, PDG Jess Nicdao of Rl District 3790, will be my worthy successor as HARPDI President.

Let me end this letter by thanking our Honorary Chairman, PRIP M. A. T. Caparas and our Honorary President, RID Guiller Tumangan for the guidance they have given me in steering our organization. RID Guiller has also been the key in securing most of the generous donations we received from Rotary organizations abroad. I also wish to thank our Treasurer, PDG Jess Citra, who was instrumental in receiving some of the donations, as well as our other Officers and Trustees; Advisers; Working Committee Chairs, Co-Chairs and members; and HARPDI members who all supported me in this very worthy cause. I also wish to thank RID Guiller Tumangan, PDG Jess Nicdao, PDG Jess Citra, PDG Mike Lirio and PDG Benny Ricafort who joined me in our site inspection in Tacloban and Ormoc last December; and again RID Guiller Tumangan, PDG Jess Nicdao, PDG Jess Cifra, PDG Ambo Gancayco and PDG Herman Gamboa who joined me during the turnover of the two schools last June. Please take note that we did not use HARPDI funds in any of these trips and some of them even went there in Ormoc more than twice to inspect our ongoing construction, and even PDG Efren Martinez inspected our construction when he was in Ormoc last May.

Allow me also to thank DGN Edna Sutter who provided us the two engineers to determine the scope of work on these schools in Ormoc, Iloilo and Roxas City. Let me also thank IPP Rick Danao of the Rotary Club of Paranaque who offered the services of Isla Lipana & Co./PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he is the Vice Chairman, for free handling our accounting, cash disbursements including signing of checks, plus tax compliance. He even prepared our comprehensive Integrity Policies. I also wish to thank our three Advisers, PDG Oskie de Venecia, PDG Jun Tambunting, and PDG Tony Rufino who hosted our first three meeting; and the rest of the attendees to those monthly meeting which we decided later to be Rotary way. Allow me also to make special mention of PDG Oskie de Venecia who allowed his Consulate staff, Mr. Johnny Ocoma, to prepare the minutes of our {

meeting, and of course, I wish to thank Johnny too for the very comprehensive minutes. Let me also thank Rtn. Danny Palma who is our website moderator, and I do hope that you will continue to access our website http://rotaryhelpsphilippines.org to see more pictures and developments on our various projects. There are many more I wish to thank particularly the Working Committee Chair and Co-Chairs who hosted the various meetings of their respective committees. ·

Very special thanks to the great Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Ormoc, with special recognition to PDG Perok Rodriguez, PP Anna Bumagat and President Troy Bumagat, without whom we would not have completed our three schools in Ormoc and complete the remaining two schools we hope to complete soon.

I will still be preparing a Year-End Report which should include our audited financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2014 as soon as our books are audited by Navarro & Amper/Deloitte Phil ippines which is again at no cost to HARPDI through the kindness of PP Greg Navarro of the Rotary Club of Makati Salcedo. Here, we will also have the complete list of donors, as well as complete list of members. I originally planned to include such lists in this long letter but I did not get the complete lists on time.

Finally. let me again thank all the members of HARPDI for your full support throughout the past six months. Allow me also to thank our very generous donors without whom we would not have done our modest accomplishments these past

six months.

I do hope that you will continue to support HARPDI under the leadership of PDG Jess Nicdao.

Maraming salamat po.

Sincerely yours,

EGoo;:~ Trustee & Immediate Past President Help & Assistance for Rotary Philippine Districts, Inc.
