NAEA Elementary Division Report

July 2013

At NAEA 2014, the elementary division will present Conversations with Colleagues at the beginning of the conference to get acquainted, welcome new attendees, share an overview of the conference, and introduce the new art standards.

According to the survey taken at NAEA 2013, the most requested topics were technology, advocacy, assessment, interdisciplinary connections, and the new National Art Standards. At NAEA 2014, the elementary division will present two carousels, one on advocacy and one on technology.

At NAEA 2014, Bob Reeker, the 2013 Elementary Art Educator

of the Year, will present a special session.

At NAEA 2014, the Elementary Division will present an awards luncheon.

The Instructional Resource Gallery is on hold until the new national standards are released.

The NAEA Elementary NING presently has 1254 members; the NAEA Elementary Facebook Page has 376 likes.

The Elementary Director participated in the NAEA Western Region Conference in June in Oklahoma City.

As director, I will be participating in the TAEA state conference and will be a keynote speaker at the Arkansas conference in Fall 2013. I will also be presenting at 3 TAEA mini-conferences in the fall.
