She is a Cuban-American descent with a passion for volunteering around the world withHabitat for Humanity International, and other mission work that includes teaching art. Theexplorer in her enjoys working in a variety of mediums, and she’s still in the early stages ofher journey. From her recent series, Life in Abstract paintings using fluid acrylics topyrography on live edge wood, she continues to nurture and grow her interests in all ofGod’s creatures. Sometimes her style is merely representational and enhanced using vividcolor. Some additional projects include sculptures using clay, foam, wood and recycledmaterials, and she has won awards for her marshmallow peep covered sculptures. As aninstructor she encourages creativity, teaches classical drawing and painting techniques andemphasizes working from life. “God is really an artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephantand the cat. He has no real style. He just goes on trying other things.” ~ Pablo Picasso Shesays that’s her sentiments exactly.

Brittany Johnson creates life like portraits of beloved pets andanimals on Scratchboards using microblading tattoo needlesand an X-acto blade. For colored portraits, she adds several coats of ink and

scratches between layers to add highlights while trying to prevent portrait fromgetting too dark. Brittany says, “I like to try and capture the spirit of the animal ... totruly make the portrait special for the owners. If they don’t tear up when receivingit, I don’t think I did a good enough job.”

Besides the cover, below are some of Brittany’s newest scratchboard paintings.
