GatheringPreparation for Worship

By the Holy Spirit we were all baptized into one body, the body of Christ, and we are individually members of the whole.

Prelude Prelude on Land of Rest Charles Callahan

Call to Worship Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and all that is within me bless God’s holy Name.Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and forget not all God’s benefits. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy,

slow to anger and of great kindness. For as the heavens are high above the earth,

so is God’s mercy great upon those who fear Him.Let us worship God!

Introit Praise the Mount John Wy eth

§ Hymn 611 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee Hymn to Joy

§ Prayer of Confession O God, have mercy upon us as we make our confession.

We question your judgment when your will conflicts with our own. We are reluctant to follow the course you prescribe. Our patience grows thin when you intrude in life’s journey, causing us to veer from the path we pursue. We seek to be faithful and obey your directions, but our own desires delay us in fulfilling your will.

Have mercy upon us and deliver us from self deception. Amen.

§ Assurance of PardonFriends, believe the good news of the Gospel! In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

§ The Gloria PatriGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

§ Passing the Peace Greet those around you with, “The peace of Christ be with you.”

§ Hymn 14 For the Beauty of the Earth Terra Beata

Children’s Time (11:00)Children (age 3 to fourth grade) are invited to go to Kids For Christ (KFC) in room 216.

Anthem Come, Thou Fount arr. Laura FarnellCome, Thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace.

Streams of mercy never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet sung by flaming tongues above.

Praise the mount, I’m fixed upon it, mount of Thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer, hither by Thy help I’m come.

And I hope by Thy good pleasure safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger wandering from the fold of God.

He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood.Oh, to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be.

Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.

Here’s my heart, Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

Responding

§ Affirmation of Faith the Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Offertory Here, O My Lord arr. Mel BayDolly Hall, clarinet Cheryl Harris, piano

§ The Doxology Lasst uns ErfreuenPraise God from whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below; Alleluia!Praise Him above ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

2016 BAZAARNIVAL – JULY 30TH8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

As my grandpappy used to say, “It’s getting down to the short rows.” That was good news when you’re plowing a field behind two wall eyed mules that took great delight in going the wrong way. The short rows are the rows on the edges at the end of a field.

We have one more week before Bazaarnival. It’s time to publicize it. Take a few of the BAZ fliers in the attendance book at the end of your row. Post them where folks can see them: telephone poles, the sides of your mailbox, police cars-not with the police in them, etc.

If you’ve been in a coma and haven’t scoured your home for items to donate, you can still get them in with a doctor’s excuse.

CALL BOB-A- LEW, Bob/Marge Dawson (214-415- 5396) or Lew/Claudia Johnson (817-233- 8172) to arrange pick up.

PS: Bob and I finally convinced Marge and Claudia to drop the doctor’s excuse idea.

PSS: Don’t forget to bring bags and hangers!
