    Ivy League Early Learning Academy

    A Note From Administration:

    Welcome to camp! We are

    very excited for the start of

    both our Cub Camp and

    Adventure Camp programs.Our focus this year will be on

    America the Beautiful. We

    have a lot of exciting lessons

    and activities planned for all

    campers. Our older campers

    will be out exploring sites

    throughout New York for the

    next two months. We hope

    everyone has a great

    summer!

    1. Independence Day honors thebirthday of the United States ofAmerica and the adoption of theDeclaration of Independence on July4, 1776.

    2. The Declaration of Independencewas actually a letter to King Georgethat had been written on July 2 byThom as Jefferson. It was a formalexplanation of why the C ontinentalCongress voted to declareindependence from Great Britain. Itwas meant to justify a revolt againstthe British, with a list of chargesagainst the British king.

    3. The main problem is that thecolonists were angry they were beingtaxed by the British government, anthey had no vote or voice in thedecisions that affected them.

    4. The Declaration of Independencewas signed by 56 m en representingthe 13 colonies. The mo ment thedeclaration was signed it marked thebeginning of all-out war against theBritish.

    5. The first signature on theDeclaration of Independence wasJohn Hancock's. The myth is that hwrote his name large so that KindGeorge would be able to read itwithout his glasses.

    room. Ms. Rossy and

    Ms. Astrit give it 110%

    every day. They step

    up to every

    challenge they are

    faced and never

    complain when

    asked to do

    something. The

    children and

    families love Ms. Rosy

    and Ms. Astrit. We

    would also like to

    thank Ms. Taneva

    and Ms. Heather for

    all the help and

    love they have

    brought to the

    twaddler classroom.

    Kids In The Kitchen

    Poke Cake1. Make a white cake.(Any brand of cake

    mix or recipe will do.)Bake in rectangle cakepan.2. Using a fork, pokeholes in the cake afterit cools.3. Make small package ofJell-O (preferablystrawberry flavor, bothfor the taste and thered, Fourth of Julyappropriate color). MixJell-O using one cuphot water, cup coldwater.4. Pour liquid Jell-O overthe cake.5. Cover the top of thecake with whippingcream.6. Chill in the refrigerator.7. Decorate the top withfruit (or otherdecorations). You cancreate an American flagusing sliced strawberriesas the stripes andblueberries in thecorner as stars.
