Housing Industry Association

Trades Career Event

Students: Tom Fuller, Preston Carney, Tori Cole, William Gordon, Mitchell Eather, Mitchell George, Lachlan Marks,

Finn Nielsen and Cooper Hunt.

On Friday 22 February 9 students from Years 10 -12 attended the Housing Industry Association (HIA) Trades Career

Event at Dubbo RSL. The day was very beneficial. It provided students with practical information and expert

interaction with professionals from the building and construction industry. Students learnt about career pathways and

apprenticeships.

A highlight of the event was former NRL player and Australian representative, Andrew Ryan's presentation. He

shared his inspirational story of combining a professional football career and being a horticulture and landscaping

apprentice (he now runs his own landscaping business). Andrew talked of the importance of setting goals, time

management, hard work and having the right attitude. His final tip for students was "Don't just stay at school to Year

12 because your friends are. Don't do what your friends are doing. Do what you want to do and get an apprentice-

ship".

Welcome to a great year in sport! I’d like to introduce myself and let you all know what is happening on and off the sporting fields at Warren Central School. I’m Mr Zayied, the new sports coordinator, and I love sport! I’m hoping my passion for sports spreads and more of our students get involved and have a go in 2019!

Swimming Following our great twilight carnival earlier in the term, several of our students have qualified for the Western Region Swimming Trials, which will be held in Dubbo on Friday 15 March. Students have the chance to be selected to represent Western NSW at the state championships later in the term. Please see Mr Zayied for your notes and more information.

Representative Trials In the coming weeks there are several opportunities for students to trial for positions in representative teams in Western Region. Most of these trials will require attending a competition day and competing against some of the best in our region. These trials are based upon individual and not team entries. If interested please see Mr Zayied. School Sport Friday school sport is up and running and students have already shown some great levels of engagement. At school a mix of team sports and Zumba are on offer, whilst off site we have a swimming group and a squash group. Please ensure Friday Sports notes have been returned to school with your child/ward. These notes contain important information and permission relating to school sports throughout the year. Also stay tuned for some exciting new recreational sports coming online in terms 2 and 3. We’re hoping to diversify what is on offer and give our students the opportunity to explore new activities. Enjoy your week in sport! Mr Zayied

Moorambilla

Visits Warren Central School

Warren Central School students

have once again presented fine

voices and respectful participation

in the Moorambilla education and

audition workshops.

Michelle Leonard noticeably

commented on just how special

the sound was during singing and

how the school’s rhythm and

sense of pulse or beat had

improved.

I feel confident that a great

number of our students will once

again be invited to perform

throughout the state with the
