Don’t Sit on your Gifts!

Jesus calls us, as a vital function of our faith, to get out and serve. “Amen, I say to you whatever you did for the least of my brothers, you did it for me.” (Matt. 25:40)

The Incarnation Social Ministry office organizes our parish efforts. Each Ministry serves one of four levels of relationship:

1. Outreach: Feeds the ;local needy we barely know

2. Hospitality: Welcomes new acquaintances in our narthex

3. Homebound: Visits members that can no long-er come to us.

4. Care & Comfort: Supports brothers and sisters in the next pew.

Volunteer by who you wish to serve OR by what you like to do. Do you like to cook? Will drive the church van? Do you like to meet people? We have opportu-nities at every level. Call or check us out on line.

PRAYERS NEEDED

CAN CATHOLICS BE CREMATED? In 1963 the Vatican lifted the ban on cremation. It is now an acceptable practice for Catholics. In 1997, the Vatican approved new liturgical norms allowing for the cremated remains to be present at a funeral Mass and the remains are to be treated with the same reverence as a whole body in a casket. Spreading the cremated ashes is still forbidden.

INCARNATION SUMMER MONTHS FOOD FOR PROJECT OUTREACH

We will be collecting food to support kids who will be home for breakfast and lunch during the summer months. All children from families we serve receive a free breakfast and lunch dur-ing the school year, but often do not have enough food to eat at home during the summer. We would like to collect “nutritious kid friendly foods for May, June and July, suggestions below: • Peanut butter and Jelly or peanut butter crackers • Low sugar cereals • Low or sugar free individual fruit cups • Trail mix (individual packages would be good) • Microwave popcorn

• Tuna • Chef Boy R Dee (has lots of fat, but kids like it) • Crackers (wheat or something nutritional) • Nuts • Good drinks or drink mixes • Mac & Cheese (individual containers would be good) • Pork & Beans Anything you think is appropriate for breakfast or lunch and somewhat nutritious. We also accept money to buy fresh fruit.

Thank you for helping us try to give the kids in Fayette County good food for the summer months. Food donations can be placed in the brown totes in the Narthex. Any monies can be turned in to the church office, marked for ‘Project Outreach’.
