Creativity and Innovation skillsCritical thinking and problem solving skillsCommunication skillsCollaboration Skills
SYSTEMATIC CREATIVITY IS:
Using logic and reasoning…
Along with creativity and imagination…
To generate ideas and artifacts that are new, surprising, and valuable.
Lego is an advocate of active, Creative and Collaborative learning
HOW LEGOS HELP: Building representations of ideas,
problems, and knowledge with LEGO bricks makes them concrete
Students are giving their hands something to work with, and their brains something to remember
HOW TO IMPLEMENT IN CLASS
Ask parents for donations of LEGO bricks If class funds are available, use them to
purchase what is necessary Use during writing/reading to create
pictures that students can use as story starts
Use the creations to get ideas on how to write a story-tell class about it orally first

MOVEMENT Brain research says that we need to get
up every 10 minutes and be active to get our blood flowing to our brain.
Make sure to give students time in class to do this.

EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM TEACHERS
Chelonnda Seroyer, a high school teacher, was by far the most inspirational presenter
Follows book The First Days of School by Harry Wong
Her PowerPoint is linked below: http://teachers.net/wong/FEB05/
7 QUESTIONS TO ANSWER THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL Am I in the right room? Where am I supposed to sit? Who is this teacher as a person? Will this teacher treat me fairly? What will we be doing this year? How will I be graded? What are the rules of the classroom?
**I will create a PowerPoint on myself to answer the 3rd question and present on first day of school.
COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS
I will use the Quadrant D Vocabulary List in my classroom to get my students ready for the “Next Generation Assessments”.

I will hold “Expert Centers” where students will take a mistake they had on a test and have an expert teach them how to solve it. (Math tests, etc.)
I will use current events. 2 paragraphs-First is the summary and the second tells about the similarities and differences to concepts students have learned in curriculum that year.
