Are we having fun yet?The First Community Bank clock and temperature reading was at 103 degrees about the same time these cyclists were pulling into Glasgow (thats Glenns Automotive in the background). The Buzz caught up with them shortly after this photo was taken, and sure nuff, theyre on a mission: Reid (in front), Oliver, and another seven cyclists who were far behind these two. We broke away from the pack, Oliver said. They all took off from Dodson early Sunday morning for the 89-mile trek to Glasgow. This is actually one of their shorter daily rides as they peddle from coast to coast. And theyre all high school students! More about them in Tuesdays Buzz.

The Glasgow Reds were in Dickinson, North Dakota, for the Terry Jablonsky Wood Bat Classic over the weekend. It appears the Reds are pretty handy with the wooden bats, as they wound up winning the tournament. A 4-2 victory over Spearfish, South Dakota on Thursday, the Reds rolled the Regina Angels 12-5 on Friday. Saturday saw a setback as they lost to the host Roughriders, getting 10-run-ruled 15-5 in five innings. But in Sundays pool play, they would knock off a conference foe, the Billings Blue Jays, 2-1 to advance to the championship game, meeting up with another conference foe, Lewistown. The Reds would blank the Redbirds 7-zip behind some outstanding pitching from Jason Thibault for the title. While these two games didnt count in the conference standings, they were definitely some nice victories as the Redbirds are currently perched atop the Eastern A standings while the Blue Jays are sitting in third place The Reds are now 22-10 overall and will finally be playing at home for a switch. On Thursday, July 2nd they host a double header with the Redbirds. First game is at 5:30. Bill Connors Field again sees action on Friday, July 3rd as the Richland County Patriots come to Glasgow for a pair starting at 5:30. Then its back on the road as they hit Sidney July 5th, Laurel July 7th, Lewistown July 8th, and head to the Glendive Invitational July 10-12. The Reds wrap up the season at home with double bills July 14, 15 & 18 and then host the Eastern A District Tourney July 23-26.

DUE DILIGENCE- I dont do this for just myself or for the benefit of a few, but for the good of ALL. If I dont investigate and expose, who will? FACTS/DOCUMENTS- I had a one-ton pickup load of signed checks and documents as well as Judges Findings/Rulings to share at the 1-26-15 scheduled meeting of the 106 NVCCA Condo Owners....what got cancelled!! I also had some facts, laws, and questions for some to SPEAK TO. INPUT FOR DISCUSSION- Heres some stuff to chew on til the next meeting. Itll give them folks plenty of time to get their responses together. Many NVCCA members are tired of the LOLLY GAGGING and expect some solid ANSWERS to the ISSUES AT HAND. What do SOME and MOST folks stand to GAIN or LOSE by this attempted action? WHAT? - Its been about 6 months since this NVCCA (North Valley County Condo Association) effort started. Isnt it time to tell others:1. What is your BUSINESS PLAN?2. Has a COST ANALYSIS been done? (Who pays and

How Much?)3. Has a FEASIBILITY STUDY to identify the

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS to make NVCCA valid been done (Based on Montana Law)?

    4. To pay ALL OWNERS bills as required by Law to file an ASSOCIATION DECLARATION, what is the PLAN?

    5. Has an ATTORNEY who knows LEGAL PROTOCOL and MONTANA LAW been retained?

QUESTIONS- SIMPLY BASIC in BUSINESS and the ISSUES are very CLEAR BY LAW. So lets practice some BUSINESS and LEGAL hygiene! ~ Nick Chiechi- DUE DILIGENT NVCCA MEMBER

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Fort Peck Project would like to welcome all the recreation visitors back for the 2015 summer season. We fully understand that camp site locations have become limited with increased use over the past few years, and are working hard to address this issue by reorganizing existing camping resources to expand overflow camping areas. By reorganizing facilities, we have added sites at the following areas: Roundhouse Point 8 camp sites. Flat Lake 3 camp sites. Boat launch parking area has

been expanded. Duck Creek 4 camp sites. Group fire ring added at

one site. West End Shelters 2 and/or 3 are now available to reserve for Group Camping through www.recreation.gov. Included in the reservation is use of the vault toilet and shelter with grill. Shelter 2 costs $50/night, and is reservable up to 14 nights. There is limited space at Shelter 2 for no more than 5 campers and/or tents and 3 vehicles allowed. A minimum of 3 campers or tents must occupy this site under the reservation. Shelter 3 costs $75/night, and is reservable up to 14 nights. Eight designated sites with campfire rings and picnic tables are available. A minimum of 5 camp sites must be occupied under the reservation with no more than 16 vehicles and 100 people total allowed. Camping is allowed in the immediately mowed area. With expanding opportunities, we need to remind users of the following rules and regulations governing camping at Corps Projects Nationwide: Within recreation areas, camping is permitted only at designated sites. Camping at one or more campsites in a recreation area for a period longer than 14 days during any 30-consecutive-day period is prohibited. Camp sites must be occupied daily. The placement of camping equipment or other items on a campsite for the purpose of reserving that campsite for future occupancy is prohibited. Please remember that these recreation areas and facilities are available for all the public to enjoy. Everyone has a right to access unoccupied campsites on a first-come, first-serve basis, unless specifically reserved. Items, including vehicles or campers left at sites unattended are subject to removal and impoundment at the owners expense. Copies of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rules and Regulations (Title 36) are available at the Administration building at Fort Peck. Questions regarding camping information or other recreation opportunities may be directed to the Natural Resources Staff at 406/526-3411.

Describe yourself in 3 words:1. Lazy

If you plan on taking a western Montana vacation for a little camping and fishing, you may want to check your destinations; chances are good you could run into some hoot owl fishing areas. With higher than normal temperatures forecast this summerand snowpack runoff depleted a month ahead of schedule, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is gearing up now to protect fish from the life-threatening stress of low flows and elevated water temperatures. In many areas were seeing stream flows fall below average for this time of year, and some that are the lowest ever recorded, said Stephen Begley, a water conservation specialist for FWP in Helena. The situation is particularly grim in northwestern Montana. Following the warmest May on record in areas near Kalispell, United States Geological Service data show stream flows across northwestern Montana have already dropped well below normal. Low flows, high water temperatures, and competition for space and food stress most fish, and especially trout. Fish are often physically compromised and can die from the higher water temperatures, lower oxygen levels and diseaseall health threats that can adversely affect trout numbers in future years. To mitigate drought conditions,

FWP sometimes employs certain fishing restrictions and maintains state-owned instream water rights, some granted to the citizens of Montana nearly 50 years ago. These water rights are aimed at keeping enough water in a stream to keep fish healthy. For instance, last week FWP informed junior water-right holders on Young Creek, a Lake Koocanusa tributary three miles south of the Canadian border, that they may be asked to reduce or stop their water diversions. The request could come if stream flows fall below five cubic feet per secondFWPs instream flow water right from July through December. Young Creek was flowing at 8 cfs on June 23, the most recent weekly reading available. Similarly, FWP administers Murphy Rights on twelve streams reaches to protect stream flows; has public-recreation claims on the Beaverhead and Bitterroot rivers and in the Blackfoot/Clearwater drainages; and manages water reservations in the Yellowstone and Missouri river basins. FWP also works with a number of local watershed groups to help carry out community drought plans on the Big Hole, Blackfoot and Jefferson rivers. When the need arises to reduce impacts on drought-stressed fish,

FWP also can limit fishing hours to midnight to 2 p.m. commonly called a hoot owl regulation. Anglers could see hoot owl fishing restrictions on some streams this summer if drought conditions persist, Begley said. A full fishing closure is also an option if conditions warrant such restrictions. FWPs drought policy provides for the use of angling closures when flows drop below critical levels for fish, when water quality is diminished, or when maximum daily water temperatures in a stream reach at least 73 degrees for three consecutive days. The preferred water temperature for rainbow and brown trout is about 55-57 degrees. Water temperatures of 77 degrees or more can be lethal to trout. Fishing in the cool morning hours helps reduce catch-and-release mortality, said Bruce Rich, chief of FWP Fisheries Division in Helena. Because Montana generally doesnt stock rivers and streams with hatchery fish, we work hard to protect our wild fish, and each streams wild brood stocks. Those are the fish that will spawn this fall and next spring. Should they become necessary, information about angling restrictions and closures will be posted on FWPs website at fwp.mt.gov.
