A BUSY DAY

As I walked into the fellowship room I discovered the tables were covered in green cloths, and as I listened I heard voices from the kitchen. “Marcia, your potatoes look so good and did you put the ham in the oven?” “Yes, I did and Darlene you need to start the salad and thanks to Lucy for washing the dishes was the reply.”

This conversation continued as they prepared the meal for guests. The ladies busied themselves setting up the serving table. The table is setup for the guests returning from the cemetery and then welcomed with smiles and hugs.

This group of women served fifty-five people, not as easy as it sounds. This group worked planning the meal, buying the food and preparing the meal. What a faithful group. Calvin and Marcia Bartlett set up the tables for the guests and Calvin and Bob Brace worked hard to take tables down and put the fellowship room in order again.

Is this not showing the Father above our love and concern for those in need?

Thank you to all. Mary Taylor

EVERYONE WELCOME

As spring is upon us it is time to again ask for help with the yard work at the church and parsonage. Mowing, working in the flower beds, helping with the watering, etc. If we all chip in where and when we can, it will be easy and the church will look great. Check with the trustees about the mowing schedule.

The improvements in the conference room were made possible by monies from the

memorials of John Brierly, Sue Kendrick & Marilyn Baumgartner. We would like to

extend a big thank you to Darlene May, Bob Brace & Pastor Greg for doing a great job in

the conference room … it looks great!

Edna Palmer has moved, her new address and phone number are:

SPECIAL MUSIC As choir is over for the summer season,

Childcare Supplies & Workers Needed for Annual Conference, June 10-13 Wichita-area churches have the opportunity to provide hospitality to our youngest United Methodists this summer through Annual Conference Childcare. If your church is willing to help out by providing supplies (such as bouncy seats, changing tables, toys, elementary games, etc.), or by providing names and contact information of possible workers (workers will be paid at $9/hour), please contact Rev. Kim Dickerson-Oard at [email protected] or 316-253-5718. We strive to provide high-quality childcare for infants to 5th-graders. All workers must be Safe Gatherings trained and preferably no younger than 18-years-old. Thank you all in advance for considering this important service to the conference!

Our Annual Conference Session will feature Minnesota Conference Bishop Bruce Ough and Ms. Stephanie Hixon, executive director of JustPeace. Preaching and teaching will focus on unity in the midst of controversy and change. The 2015 conference agenda includes voting for delegates to the 2016 General Conference, as well as the usual business of the Annual Conference Session. Our guests will play a role in teaching us the Wesleyan way of being Christians in holy conversations. Pre-conference resources will offer resolutions, candidates for consideration and additional ways in which we can work together. - See more at: http://www.greatplainsumc.org/annualconference#sthash.AkUz9LUf.dpuf
