From the Pastor’s Desk 2

A quick thank you to all of you who have made my first days here at St. Gregory’s manageable, enjoyable, and memorable. There are many new names, faces, and places—which I will continue to work on—but the overwhelming impression I have gotten is one of hospitality. The generosity of the parishioners in working on the rummage sale and preparing for funerals, not to mention all of the people who come through the office throughout the day to participate in the daily workings of the parish, have conveyed how the love of Christ is at work in the local community in your hearts and minds. With this in mind, I express deep Thanksgiving—a word that has a great deal of meaning

for us Catholics. We give thanks for the many gifts God has given us, and our expression of that thanks is to offer our own gifts to those around, for in giving of our selves we participate in the life of God, who gave us everything, even his only Son. In fact, the word Eucharist—the source and summit of our faith—means thanksgiving. In the Eucharistic celebration, we give thanks for Jesus’ saving action in his life, death, and resurrection. We remember what God has done for us and acknowledge that we are unworthy of his love, but he does so anyway, leading us to give thanks. This spirit of giving and passing on our gifts to others makes us a Eucharistic community, founded in the sharing of the life of God, who created us, sustains us, and transforms us into his chosen people.

Father Victor, O.S.B.

followed by our

Annual Church Picnic Our Faith . . . Our Future

One out of every four St. Gregory families has returned a pledge card for our new fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013 and ending June 30, 2014. These members have pledged an average increase of 4.7%. What a blessing since our school enrollment is up, and our church is supporting more ministries than ever before.

If you have not yet turned in a pledge card, please pick up a form in the Gathering Space, pray about your monetary commitment to our Church, complete the form (including your contact information so we can keep our records up to date) and drop it in the collection basket or mail it to the office.

Next Week you can donate to the Catholic Communication Campaign. CCC is how the Good News gets around to you through podcasts, television, radio and print. Half of your donation will stay in our diocese to support local communication needs.

Pick up an informative sheet in our Gathering Space and read how this campaign has conducted an immersion program in the Middle East.

Welcome!

We extend our hands and hearts in Christian fellowship to you, whether longtime residents or newly arrived in our parish. If you are not registered or need to make a change, please fill out the form below

and place in the collection basket or mail to the

Parish Office.

7 Pillars of Effective Evangelization—Notes from Jenni #6—Formational Evangelize in ways that bring faith into the life of others. Each conversation and encounter is an opportunity. Is building a deck any different if you are Catholic? Is your golf game any different? Evangelization is a lifelong formation that takes place along the way, in the presence of each of us, during everyday situations, within everyday conversations. Ask yourself, are they any closer to Christ after our interaction?
