DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

The department organised guest lectures on various topics in the field of

electrical engineering in order to aware the students with recent technologies

by eminent personalities like Mr.Pankaj Kulkarni, Director, Process Control

design, Fidelity Investment, USA, Mr. S. M. Deshpande Chief Engineer,

Chhattisgarh state Renewable Energy Development Agency Mr. Ajitkumar

Datar PCRA Mumbai, Mr. Anil Tatode, Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt.

Ltd Nagpur, & Mr. Nikhil Pangale Dy. Engineer, Thermal Power Station;

Paras.

The department organised one week training program on “Industrial

Automation (PLC, SCADA & HMI)” by Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt.

Ltd Nagpur & Training Program on MATLAB Simulink. By Prof. A.S.

Welankiwar for final Year BE students.

Department organised two weeks Workshop on “Technical Communication for

Researcher & Scientist” conducted by IIT Bombay (8 November – 5

December, 2015). Eleven faculty members of our department were

participated in this workshop. Carrier Guidance Program for Third & final year

BE students by Mr. Mr. Umesh Aglawe Director, GATE FORUM Amravati is

arranged in the department.

Dr. S. R. Paraskar (Professor, Electrical Engg Dept) have been approved as a

Recognized Supervisor for Doctoral Research in the Faculty of Engineering in

PAHER University, Udaipur, India.

Prof. S. S. Jadhao has been shortlisted for the prestigious “Dr. Abdul Kalam

Lifetime Achievement National Award” for his remarkable achievement in the

field of Teaching, Research & Publication.

Faculty members of our department published two research papers in

International Journal & three papers in International Conference. Prof. V.S.

Karale presented the paper in International Conference held at Hyderabad on

21-22 Aug 2015. Prof. M. R. Chavan presented the paper in International

Conference on “Innovative Research in Engineering, Science & Management”

held at New Delhi. Prof. P. R. Bharambe & Prof R. S. Kankale attended two

days training course on “Distributed Generation & Power Quality” at VNIT

Nagpur. Prof. R. S. Kankale & Prof. R.K. Mankar conducts two days workshop

on PSCAD at PLIT Buldhana.

Eighteen students from final Year BE Electrical are placed in M/s. TCS Ltd.

Pune through Campus recruitment drive. Electrical Department conducts two

days training program for ITI Shegaon students under Community

Development cell.

In addition to academic activities, EESA also organised program to celebrate

Teacher‟s Day & Engineer‟s Day and felicitation of TCS Placed students.

The department has good industry interaction. Every faculty members of the

department visited various reputed Industries in Nashik, Pune, Nagpur,

Jalgaon & Mumbai and has been involved in the development of State of the

art facilities and consultancy projects.

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

INDUSTRIAL VISITS AND TRAINING:

Second Year students of Mechanical Engineering attended 4 days Training

workshop on Metrology at Nashik Engineering Cluster, Nashik (16-19

December 2015).

Second Year students (13 nos.) of Mechanical Engineering visited Mahindra

& Mahindra Ltd., Nashik (17 December 2015). Dr. M. D. Pasarkar arranged

the visit.

Apart from various guest lectures, the departmental students‟ chapter such as

Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA), Society of Automotive

Engineers (SAE) India and Renewable Energy Club (REC) held various

events for the students such as “Bridge the Gap” by MESA, Celebration of

“Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas” REC by and AeroTrix by SAE received

great response from the students.

Model Exhibition and Poster Competition were held to celebrate Rajiv Gandhi

Akshay Urja Diwas on 20th August 2015. More than 150 students from

SSGMCE and SGM English School participated in the programme. Prof. S. Q.

Syed, Faculty Advisor coordinated the programme.

A total 61 students are the members of SAE India Student Chapter for the

session 2015-16. The various activities are conducted by the chapter.

A Two-Days Workshop on Automobile Prototyping (RC Car) for the students

of SSGMCE and other Institutes was jointly organised by the Department and

Aerotrix (10-11 October, 2015). Out of total 81 students participated, 70

students were from SSGMCE. Prof. M. B. Bhambere, Faculty Advisor

coordinated the event.

ADVANCE TRAINING TO STUDENTS:

Dr. S. P. Trikal conducted „Orientation programme on CNC Technology‟ for

the third year students of the department (40 nos.) in two batches during 28

September-14 October, 2015.

Hands-on training on AutoCAD to the second year students of the Mechanical

Engineering.

Recent trends in Welding Technology for the third year students of the

department (48 nos.) in two batches during 3-5 September, 2015 and 10-12

September, 2015. Mr. Milind Gadre, General Manager (Retd.), Ador Welding

Ltd. Pune conducted the programme.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

1. Till date, total 17 students of the department from the current batch (2015-16)

got placed in reputed companies.

2. Mr. Abhishek Channewar final year student of the department presented

paper on „Design features of TBMT‟ in IEEE Smart-Tech conference held at

Bangalore on 27 September, 2015.

3. In the last semester, three faculty members: Prof. P. M. Ardhapurkar, Prof. R.

D. Palhade and Prof. M. D. Pasarkar were awarded with Ph.D. Degree from

IIT Bombay, SGGS Institute of Engg., Nanded and SGBAU Amravati,

respectively.

4. Dr. P. M. Ardhapurkar visited Arizona, USA to present research paper in

Cryogenic Engineering Conference and International Cryogenic Materials

Conference (CEC-ICMC 2015) during June 28–July 2, 2015.

5. The total research publication of the faculty of the department is more than 15

in the reputed journals and conference proceedings during last semester.

6. Dr. P. M. Ardhapurkar delivered an invited-talk on „Cryogenics‟ to the students

of College of Engineering and Technology, Akola, on 3 October, 2015.

TRAINING TO FACULTY AND STAFF MEMBERS:

Four faculty members of the department attended Startup‟s CONFEX held at

NEC, Nashik during 27-28 October, 2015.

„Manufacturing Excellence through skill development‟ organized by

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Aurangabad on 5 September 2015.

During last semester many eminent persons visited the department and delivered

expert lectures for the students and faculty members.

1. Dr. Ganesh Soni, (Ph.D. IIT Bombay-Monash Univ.) from MSC software,

Pune delivered a guest lecture on “Composite Materials and Finite Element

Method” on 1 October, 2015.

2. Mr. Parag Pande from Cygnus Design Solution, Mumbai delivered lecture on

“Latest Technology Trends in Manufacturing” on 28 August, 2015.

3. Dr. B N Jajoo, Ex. Principal, GCOE, Aurangabad delivered the lecture on

“Teaching-Learning Process in Today‟s Context” on 6 January, 2016 for

faculty members.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME:

The department conducted community development programmes:

Introduction to AutoCAD and Advance Welding Technology for the nearby ITI

students during 9-10 December, 2015. Prof. P. T. Patokar coordinated the

programme. Total 40 students from ANS Infovally and ITI Shegaon are

beneficiaries of the programme.

SSGMCE established "NVIDIA sponsored GPU Education Center Program" to

motivate Researchers and to contribute in CUDA/ GPU, Parallel programming

research through GPU Education Center Program @ IT Department,

SSGMCE Shegaon.

ACM Student Chapter Started in Dept. of IT from session 2015-16.

Department of IT has already signed MOU with Strategy Masters, Oracle,

Oasis and Anchanto.

Faculties of department of IT have conducted community development

program for “tribal school, Adgaon”

TCS Pune has offered a live project on J2EE platform that is in process by 4

students from IT & 4 students from CSE dept.

PSL Nagpur has offered a live project on Web based application that is

process by 2 students of IT & 2 students from CSE.

Students of Information technology department are working on 4 sponsored

project by various companies like Value Momentum, Hconcepts, Krivi Tech,

and Silent Bell.

Students of Information technology department are working on 2 sponsored

project by SGIARC, Shegaon.

32students placed in various companies till date.

Department‟s student chapter ITSA has Organized 5 events in session 2015-

16.

Students of IT department have published 06 Research articles in

international journals in session 2015-16.

Students of IT have successfully completed Linux certification, Shell Script

programming certification from IIT Bombay.

Faculty of dept. of IT have interacted with more then 10 + companies at

NASIK, Indore and Nagpur and signed MOUs for sponsored project,

Research project, project evaluation, Industry Visit and training on different

platforms for the student.

Two students of IT department have valid GATE score in session 2014-15.

Ten students of IT department have secured their position in University Merit

List in session 2014-15.

DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND

RESEARCH

The department was ranked amongst Top 100 B-Schools 2015 – 2016 of India

by the Outlook Drshti Survey 2015 for the second year in continuation and

amongst Top B-Schools 2015-16 in Maharashtra by Careers360 magazine for

the fourth year in continuation. The complete survey reports were published by

Outlook magazine in its October 2015 issue and by Careers360 magazine in its

November 2015 issue.

One of our alumni Mr. Uday Patil who passed out in 1999 was promoted to the

post of Business Head – Rural Lending in Bajaj Finserve Pvt. Ltd., Pune With

effect from December 1, 2015 and another alumni M/s Chetan Chaudhary, Sunil

Chavhan and Avinash Wankhede of 2011-12 were awarded “The Best Performer

of the Year” Award for the year 2014-2015 by Bajaj Finserv Pvt. Ltd., Pune.

A three-days Youth Character building and Personality development Workshop

was organized by the department during October 2– 4, 2015 in collaboration with

SGBAU, Amravati in which 78 students of Vidarbha region participated.

Prakalpakriti 2015 – A national level summer internship project competition was

organized by the department on 12th Oct. 2015 which was attended by MBA final

year students from Maharashtra and neighboring States. Parishkriti 2015 – the

flagship management programme of the department was organized in during the

year.

Financial Education Workshops have been conducted by the department for

seven target groups during 2015-16 also on the pattern of previous years since

2011-12 with prior approval from Securities Exchange Board of India, Mumbai

and with financial sponsorship from the later i.e. SEBI, Mumbai which earns

consultancy revenue too for the department.

Business simulation exercise was conducted for the first time in the department in

January 2015 for 50 participants from MBA final year students and faculty

members of the department through Mr. Prashant Kalmarker, one of our alumni

from engineering faculty, who is Managing Partnet, Circular Angle, Thane,

Mumbai and who also recruited one student Mr. Nikhil Deokar from our

department from the batch of 2014-15 for his consultancy organization.

Prof. H. M. Jha “Bidyarthi”, Professor and Head of the Department presented and

published his case research paper and chaired a technical session in the

International Conference on Management Cases 2015 and attended as member

its International Advisory Council meeting at Birla Institute of Management

Technology, Greater Noida during December 3-4, 2015 and also delivered a Key

Note address in a national seminar organized by Chattisgarh Technical Council

at Raipur in August 2015.

BIMTECH-Stough Young Scholar Award 2014 was given to one of the faculty

members of our department Prof. S. M. Mishra for his best paper. The Award

consists of Rs. 10,000/- cash prize, a medallion and a certificate. Twenty one

from amongst all students of MBA final year 2015-16 underwent fully sponsored

Summer Internship having been sponsored by Bajaj Finserv Pvt. Ltd., Pune (Rs.

8000/- per students for four students), Cybernetyx Ltd., Greater Noida Rs. 5,000/-

per student for four students) and Reliance Jio Shegaon and Khamgaon (Rs.

1,500/- per student for thirteen students)

A new and independent building is coming up for the department of business

administration and research by the side of Pragyanchakshu Sant Gulabrao

Granthalaya – the central library of the college and is expected to be ready for

occupation by coming academic session.

SHRI GAJANAN INVENTION & ADVANCED RESEARCH CENTRE (SGIARC)

Consultancy of Rs 70,000/- received as third party inspection of audio visual

system and CCTV system at DPDC hall, collector office premises, Akola

SGIARC has started “Vyaspeeth”-a student information center as a incubate.

Basically it is a software based call center to provide the overall information

related to education of any kind to students as well as educational institutes

across the India.

IP cell has filed following one patent-“Hybrid solar Energy storage device”

Solar research center has design and developed solar power plant (1kW to

10Kw), solar water pump (1HP to 5HP), solar based water purifier.

Online Student Attendance time table module developed by ERP software

division.

ED cell has organized two EAC programs for Electrical, Mechanical and

Electronics & Telecomm. Engineering students of S.S.G.M. College of

Engineering, Shegaon

VLSI-ESD center has signed NDA CMP fabrication lab Grenoble, France for

ST Microelectronics 130nm CMOS design kit for IC fabrication.

SAP-ERP division has-

o Trained total 5 students (Two- FICO module; Two-Basis and One-MM

module)

o Implemented Asset Accounting Module in all companies (SSGMCE,

SGES and GMS)

o Developed New Procedure of Voucher Posting in SGES

Distributed amongst the Players Runner as well as winner.

2nd All INDIA T-20 CRICKET Tournament Held on 12th Dec to 20th Dec 2015

at our newly built International Standard turf cricket ground. 12 Teams were

Participated from 4 state with white Ball. Many Ranji Trophey Players Played

the Tournament and Six I.P.L. Players including one Ex. International Player

from kenya Team. Prize were 1 Lakh cash for the Winner and 71000/- for

Runners up and Man of the tournament 5000/- including 500/- for cash men

of the Match .

There was Residential Cricket Coaching Camp by Renowend Ex. Ranji

Players and coach shri. Sulakshani Kulkarni , 50 students from age group 14

& 19 has participated. Date was 15 21 Nov.2015

Our Roller skating Academy Students Mr. Mihir Deshmukh and Mr. Prasad

Shette won 3 Bronze Medal in Roller Skating Open State Championship held

at Pune. from 6th Jan 2016 to 10th Jan 2016.

CULTURAL COUNCIL

The various Cultural Activities:

Independence Day celebration: Every year our institute celebrates Independence Day on 15th August with great enthusiasm, along with flag hosting & various cultural program also, sport events were organized.

Participation in Youth Festival :

Students of our college participated in Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University‟s Youth Festival and various intercollegiate competitions. This year it was organized in G.S. College, Khamgaon from 29th Sept.‟15 to 2nd October‟15.

A best team of 38 students represented our college in this festival. First time our students took part in 20 out of 23 competitions like Music, Dance, Literary Events, Theatre, Fine Arts etc. and performed with zeal at its best and made our college to stand-out differently amongst all colleges of Amravati University.

Teachers Day Celebration:

Every year on 5th September we celebrate the birth day of the second President of India, academic philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Music Examination:

Our college provides Music learning facility at “Naad Bramha” (Special Music section) by extending the music examination facility to the local Examination center “Swar Sampada Sangit Mahavidyalaya, Shegaon” Every year many interested students appear for the music exam conducted by “Akhil Bhrtiya Gandharva Mahavidyalay Mandal, Mumbai”

“Krishna Janmashtami” :

Students celebrated the Birthday of Lord Krishna with breaking “Dahi Handi” with great enthusiasm.

Ganesh Festival:

In Ganesh Festival, after setting up the idol of god of wit Shri Ganesh, poja and regular aarti were conducted.

Staff Gathering- “Saptarang” :

Along with the students activities in our college we arranged a special staff Gathering named “Saptarang” comprising of Sports, Drama, Dance and Singing event .will be conducted.

Youth Day (Yuva Din) Celebration:

Every year our college celebrates “Youth Day” on 12th January. We have organized a big celebration by inviting a nearby colleges and schools to participate in this event. This year also Youth Day will be carried out with great enthusiasm and positive energy, college organized foot rally, “Yuva Jyot” and various cultural programmes.
