The 3D Modeling workspace looks quite different from the AutoCAD Classic workspace

The main feature of the 3D Modeling workspace is the Dashboard.

The Dashboard contains everything you need to create a 3D model.

There are two types of 3D objects: solids and surfaces. With solids, you can create shapes by adding or subtracting other shapes. In the image below, a cylinder and small box are subtracted from a larger box to form the shape at right.

With surfaces, you can create free-form shapes using curved 2D objects like splines or polylines.

Like 2D objects, 3D objects can be edited using grips.

A special feature called the grip tool, lets you manipulate objects in 3D space.

If you need to draw on a surface, you can do so using the Dynamic UCS feature.

Closed 2D objects can be extruded to form 3D solids.

You can manipulate individual 3D objects that have been used in combination to create a more complex shape.

Predefined views can be selected from the Dashboard, or you can create a custom view.
