Tip: As you cut, place the squares in stacks by their end use: Placemats 1-4 or the Runner. This will have you organized for quick piecing! From Fabric A, cut:six 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut: fifteen3-1/2”squaresforPlacement1 fifteen3-1/2”squaresforPlacement3 forty 3-1/2” squares for the Runner

From Fabric I, cut:one 3-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut: six 3-1/2” squares for Placement 3 six 3-1/2” squares for Placement 4eight of Template 4eight of Template 9

From Fabric J, cut:two 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut: six 3-1/2” squares for Placement 1 fifteen3-1/2”squaresforPlacement2

From the Binding Fabric, cut:eleven 2-1/2” x WOF strips

Step 1: Copy all templates at 100%.

Step 2: On the fusible web, trace the indicated number of each Template, as instructedon the Template sheets. Be sure to note the quantity. Tip: In addition to the piece number, include the fabric letter shown on the Template. This will help you to ensure you are fusing it to the correct fabric.

Step 3: Cut out each traced shape, leaving 1/4”-1/2” of excess fusible web outside the marked lines. You will NOT cut on the marked/traced lines at this point.

Step 4: Follow in the steps below to fuse each piece to the appropriate fabric. Fuse, following the manufacturer’s instructions, then cut out each shape on the marked line.

Step 5: Gather: nine Fabric E squaresfifteenFabricAsquaressix Fabric J squaresArrangeinfiverowsofsix,asshown,notingthefabricplacementinthe diagram.

Step 6: Sew the squares together to form the rows, pressing the seams in opposite directions every other row.

Step 7: Sew the rows together, nesting the seams and pressing the row seams to one side.

The resulting Placemat base should measure 15-1/2” x 18-1/2”.

Step 8: Repeat Steps 5-7 to make Placemats 2-4, using the fabric placements shown here.

Step 9: Gather: forty Fabric A squarestwenty-four Fabric H squaressixteen Fabric E squaresArrangeinfiverowsofsixteen,asshown,notingthefabricplacementinthediagram.

Step 10: Sew the squares together to form the rows, pressing the seams in opposite directions every other row.

Step 11: Sew the rows together, nesting the seams and pressing the row seams to one side.

The resulting Placemat base should measure 15-1/2” x 48-1/2”.

Assemble the Runner

Step 12: Using the Appliqué Placement diagram as a guide, place the assorted Template pieces in the pairings indicated. Pin in place on their respective Placemats or Runner.

One piece at a time, peel the paper backing from the lower layer Template pieces and fuse to the base. Continue by peeling the backing to the upper layer Template pieces and fusing to the base as indicated in the Quilt Assembly Diagram.

Edge stitch the templates to the block.

Repeat for all four Placemats and the Runner, using the cover image as a placement guide.

Your Placemats and Runner tops are complete! Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy!
