In 2014, we had the opportunity to significantly enhance our capabilities and we took it. We merged with Rider Hunt London – one of the oldest and most respected construction consultancies in the UK.

Our Construction Management team provides expert project delivery skills to clients who wish to benefit from early, impartial and objective construction advice. We then plan, procure and manage projects using specialist trade contractors to deliver the various elements of work. We manage the complexities and risks of building on your behalf, while providing full cost transparency.
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
Effective planning is a prerequisite for the on time and on budget delivery of any project. The schedule provides the project with the outline structure and activity detail to ensure minimum risk to the overall delivery.

K2 provides complete support services to Developers who are looking to acquire developments. We can undertake feasibility studies, appraisals and due diligence to assist our clients in making important investment decisions.
ACQUISITION SUPPORTSERVICES
K2 have the skills and experience to assist Developers and Property Owners to identify and evaluate development opportunities, maximising value. We help our clients to make informed property and investment decisions, through our understanding of market needs and drivers. COST &COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT
Acting or behalf of a developer or occupier k2’s team procures, appoints and oversees the design and build contractor to ensure they comply with the building contract and successfully deliver the project.
EMPLOYER’S AGENT
K2 monitor on behalf of investors and financial institutions that developers are constructing properties in accordance with the loan conditions. K2 advises when money can be drawn down and forecast costs to complete.

The project consisted of the re-development of existing facilities at the VWG PDI at the Port of Sheerness, Kent to improve and expand on pre-delivery inspection facilities, nearly 1000 spaces for car storage and associated infrastructure.
The existing building was stripped down to the existing concrete frame ready for recladding and fitting out to VW’s specification. Removal of the asbestos roof to the main building was safely carried out. Complete demolition of peripheral buildings including foundations allowing a piled new steel framed extension totalling 3,000m² to be constructed extending the footprint of the existing building; creating quality inspection workshop, spray booths and vehicle imaging bay facilities .
New and existing building structures were re-clad including new roofs to form the new space for fitting out. A fully serviced and fitted out building provided a new car workshop, office and staff facilities including a full catering kitchen / canteen within the existing footprint. Refurbished external car parking area (1000 cars) including site wide lighting / CCTV and vehicle refuelling centre.
K2 provided the project and cost management function client facing role and construction management resource for the build programme. This included liaising and co-ordinating of the Tenant fit out during the main build works of the accelerated programme.
Tenant request for an accelerated programme following project start for handover late January 2014 placed demands on design and sequencing to achieve the revised handover date.
VOLKSWAGEN PDI CENTRE, SHEERNESS

Ahead of the launch of BMWs new iCar (BMWs new electric car) in the UK, K2 were appointed to refit Chandlers BMW Brighton showroom.
A new iCar display area was installed complete with an electric charging point. The main sales floor was completely upgraded and refurbished to meet current BMW corporate standards.
Works included all internal flooring, new feature staircase, new reception area, customer toilets and hospitality suite. The works were carefully phased to allow the dealership to keep trading and maintain business as usual.

CHANDLERS BMW, BRIGHTON – SHOWROOM RE-FIT
CLIENT:Chandlers BMW UKVALUE:£500kROLE:Project Management, Cost Management, Construction Manager
The project is a new development on the site of an existing car dealership. The project requires the demolition of the existing facility, land clearance and development of a new facility for Jardines Motor Group – a Porsche dealership.
The current development proposal is for a car sales, repair and storage development. The development will consist of an 18 car showroom for Porsche, the workshop will accommodate circa 14 workshop bays, 2 specialist work bays, and 2 MOT bays. In addition, there will be a car valet facility.
The construction budget for this project is circa £7M with an anticipated planning application submission in late May 2016 and a completion date of August 2017.
K2 have been retained to provide full project management and commercial management services.
This site provides challenges due to ground contamination and flood risks as well as being constrained by the adjacent developments and environmental issues. K2 have managed an extensive survey programme to inform both the planning application and design, including ecology, archaeology, arboriculture, geo technical and asbestos.
PORSCHE, SIDCUP
CLIENT:Jardine Motors GroupVALUE:£7mROLE:Project Management, Cost Management
K2 has been appointed to deliver a new dual brand Jaguar Land Rover dealership in Milton Keynes by providing Project Management and Cost Management services to develop the 45,000 sq ft facility. This is Jardine’s first dealership that will house the two brands - Jaguar and Land Rover – and will be used for car sales and repairs. The development will incorporate an eighteen vehicle showroom, twenty bay workshop and two MOT bays, along with a roof deck car park.
K2 also continue to manage the Jardine Motors Group furniture procurement process. K2 undertook the process of tendering multiple furniture package options to give the client a bespoke back of house furniture brand that will now be incorporated throughout all upcoming new build dealerships.
During the project’s design development, K2 concurrently engaged with a number of specialist workshop fit-out contractors to coordinate and vocalise Jardine’s own operational needs and aspirations. This early stage collaboration enabled the delivery of an efficient and functional workshop, purposely designed to suit Jardine’s own operational and business goals, whilst maintaining economic value.
JAGUAR LAND ROVER, MILTON KEYNES

The Jardine Motor Group have commissioned K2 Consultancy to deliver a refurbishment of an existing Mercedes-Benz dealership. The project will incorporate the latest Corporate Identity standards, whilst also improving and meeting the businesses modern day needs.
With the increased demands on aging assets, the key driver for the project is to create a more efficient and functional facility which reflects both a maximisation of the existing showroom space as well as expanding the capacity of the businesses used car sales. With this in mind, K2’s main goal is to revitalise and add value to an existing dealership which is operating at capacity for our client whilst managing project expectations within a constrained budget.
MERCEDES-BENZ, SOUTHEND

This project has required delicate stakeholder management up to and throughout the project cycle due to the complex interrelationship of the Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche brands.
The works see a new build extension to facilitate an eight bay workshop and parts mezzanine for Ferrari and Maserati, as well asa remodel of the Porsche unit repair, overnight delivery and parts department.
K2 are providing full Project Management and Cost Consultancy roles and have pulled together the professional team, undertaken feasibility studies, over saw planning approval process, procurement of the main contractor, tender and adjudication of specialist automotive packages.
FERRARI & MASERATI AFTERSALES EXTENSION/NEW BUILD, COLCHESTER

K2 worked with our client Jardine Motors Group to provide an upgrade to their Corporate Identity. The upgrades works consisted of re-tiling areas of an operational showroom, new glazed partitions and co-ordination of the new Bentley CI furniture and displays which alone were £175,000.
We provided a Project Management and Quantity Surveying function, agreed deliverables and understanding of the corporate brand, tender and procurement of main contractor, managed the construction process while being carried out within an operational facility.
