Lecher Lines K6K6ELECTROMAGNETIC OSCILLATIONS

Two bare copper wires, 5 m long and 20 cm apart, are stretched above the lecturetables. The wires are connected at one end to a 4-meter RF oscillator (Å80 MHz) andare shorted at the other end. Small incandescent bulbs with rigid wires protruding fromtheir terminals can be placed over the parallel wires and slid along them. Standingelectromagnetic waves on the wires can be demonstrated by sliding the bulbs along thewires and finding the nodes and antinodes.
