The Association for Support and Training of Women Candidates

• Founded on 4 March 1997, KA-DER aims to increase the representation of women in all elected and appointed positions, within decision-making bodies.

• KA-DER was established by a group of women from different sectors, in order to empower and encourage women and develop strategies for effective and equalparticipation of women at local and national parliaments and at all decision making bodies.



Our Campaigns:

• 1999 Campaign for the Early General Elections.• 2002 Campaign for the Early General Elections (in coalition with 77women’s organisations).• 2004 Campaign for Local Elections.• 1997-2002 Campaign to Change the Civil Code (In collaboration with129 women’s organisations).• 1997-2005 Campaign for Gender/Women’s Quota.• 2003 -2005 Campaign for the Amendmends on Turkish Panel Code inthe Favor of Women (Under the coordination of the Women’s Platform onTurkish Panel Code)• 2003-2008 For Tomorrow From Today – Campaign for Women’sParticipation and Representation of Women on Local Politics• 2007 Campaign for the Early General Elections



Campaigns:

• Campaign for 2007 General Elections:

KA-DER ran a successful campaign prior to the 2007 July elections. Themessage was simple: “Do we have to have a moustache to go into theParliament?” This campaign has been highly successful, supported bymore than 300 NGOs from all over Turkey, and by various artists,business women, singers, etc who provided their faces to be used incampaign billboards. Owing to the 10-year work, KA-DER has beenrealizing, 50 women have been elected as MPs in the 22 July 2007elections. The percentage has been doubled, and been the highest inTurkish history.
