From the Desk of the Director Didyoueverstoptonoticethatthosewhoservetheneedyaresomeofthemostjoy-fulpeoplethereare?It’strue;theyseemtobepeoplewhoarethemostpositive,ambitious,andgenerallycheerfulintheirdispositionandattitude.It’snomysterythatGod’sdesireisthatwehelpthepoorbutweseldomthinkmuchaboutwhatthatdoesinus,Thebiblesaysin2Corinthians9:12“ThisservicethatyouperformisnotonlysupplyingtheneedsoftheLord’speoplebutisalsooverflowinginmanyexpressionsofthankstoGod.Yes,servingothersdoesprovideforneedsandisalovingexpressionofselflessnessthatmanycanad-mire,howevertheoutwardcharacterofthosewhoserveaccordingtothisportionofscrip-tureisoverflowingwithmorethanjustactsofkindness.Thosewhosetthemselvesasidetobeusedtoserveothersalsoplacethemselvesinapositiontooverflowwithathankfulheart.Weareveryblessedtohavethesetypesofvolunteerswhogiveofthemselvessofaithfully.

Churches Help Bring Warmth to FamiliesWinterisinfullswinghereinKalamazoo,theroadsarecoveredinsnow,schoolsareclosingandyoudon’tdarestepoutsidewithoutfirstputtingonaheavywintercoat.Butwhatifyouhadfallenonhardtimesandwerenotabletopurchaseawintercoat.That’swhatwehavebeenseeingalotofdownhereattheDreamCenter;manypeoplehavebeencomingherewithoutacoatandbecauseofmanygenerouscoatdonationstheyhavebeenleavingwithone.Thiswintercoatshavebeenprovidedforthesepeoplethroughchurch’scoatdrives.

Manylocalchurcheshaveralliedtheircongregationstoactiondonatingtheiroldcoatsthatwouldotherwisebetakingupspaceinclos-ets.Throughdonationslikethese,atleast400coatneedswillbemetthiswinter.OnemothercameintoTheDreamCenterhavingalreadypurchasedacoatforherdaughter.“Ialreadyboughtheracoatbuthalfwaythroughthewintershesproutedupandcouldn’tfitinitanymore,Icouldn’tbuyheranotheronesowecamehere.”Anyonewithkidsknowshowthatgoes. Storieslikethatarenotrarearoundhere.But,throughdonationsofoldclothesmanypeoplewhowouldhaveotherwisegonewithoutareable

towalkoutofourdoorshavingtheirneedsmet.Iftheyarecold,theywillleaveclothed,iftheyarehungrytheywillleavewithfoodandiftheyjustwanttotalk,theywillleave,listenedtoo.Ministrylikethiscannotbedonealone;ittakesthesupportofchurchesandindividualstokeeptheKalamazooDreamCenterafloat.ItisthroughthatsupportthathundredsofpeopleareabletowalkthroughourdoorsandleavenotonlyhavingtheirphysicalneedsmetbutalsohavingaveryrealencounterwiththeloveofChrist,andthatisthereasonwearehere.
