KAPPA KAPPA KAPPA, BETA GAMMA CHAPTER LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES Statement of Purpose Tri Kappa is a unique philanthropic organization because it exists only within the boundaries of the state of Indiana. The organization was founded in 1901 in Indianapolis by a group of seven young ladies at the Girls' Classical School founded by May Wright Sewall. Each was to begin a chapter in her hometown. From these humble beginnings, Tri Kappa has thrived to 14 7 active chapters and 123 associate chapters with almost IO,OOO members. The object of this organization is to bring women into close, unselfish relationship for the promotion of charity, culture and education. Mishawaka's local chapter, beta Gamma, created this scholarship program to foster the education of local students planning to attend local colleges and universities that include but are not limited to; Bethel College, Indiana University South Bend, Ivy Tech College, St. Mary's College, the University of Notre Dame, and Brown Mackie College. Eligibility Criteria: Student must be a resident of Penn, Harris or Madison Townships. Student must attend or plan to attend a local college/university (!USB, University of Notre D"me, Holy Cross, BetlJel, St. Mary's, Brown Mackie College, IvyTu.:h State College, ek.) ao a full-time student. Program must result in certificate or degree. Graduate and doctoral degrees are not eligible. A ward: Amounts will vary from year to year depending on funds available. Students may apply for up to four consecutive years for the scholarship. Students seeking to renew their scholarships will be asked to submit a new full application each year they wish to be considered for additional funding. Awards will be paid directly to the institution whenever possible. Application Requirements: Applicant Must Submit: (1) One copy of the following completed application form, including attached essay. (2) A one-page letter of recommendation from a person who knows you well, submitted at the same time the application is submitted. The letter must be type written and signed by its author. (3) Official transcript through ?'h semester of high school or college transcript if applicable, inclicating a minimum GPA of 2.0. ( 4) Official copy of ACT/SAT results. (5) A wallet sized senior picture or equivalent. ( 6) Students are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to the scholarship deadline and forward the subsequent Student Aid Report (SAR) to Kappa Kappa Kappa by April 15th.
