1◆ Prohibitions ◆・Do not let personnel operate the cutter if they don't understand the

instructions in this operation manual.・Do not touch the blade when it's rotating.・Sparks may come out from the blade when it's cutting. Do not use the

cutter in places with danger of explosion (where flammable gas may be generated or exist).

◆ Precautions ◆・Wear safety goggles during cutting to protect eyes from cut off dust.・During operation or immediately after shutdown, the machine and the

blade are hot and may cause burns. ・Inspect the machine before use. Clean and grease the machine after

use.・Please use genuine Keel Cutters parts. Non-genuine parts may cause

failures or early wear in the product. Damages or failures caused by non-genuine parts may not be covered by warranty.

N600 was developed to cut ductile iron pipes automatically with high accuracy.

Hydraulic driving type (Keel Cutter N600LRCU)It has a hydraulic unit as power source.Using a hydraulic hose of 15 meters, the power source can be placed apart from the cutter machine thus offering stable workability.This model can cut pipes from φ118 to φ1554mm (outer diameter) with cutting speed 90 to 110mm/min.

The following parts and accessories are necessary for cutting pipes (not for construction work).

8 Attaching guide ring

■Open the guide ring and attach it 　around the pipe•Before　attaching　the　guide　ring,move　up　

the　hex　bolts　M8x35　so　they　don't　touch　the　pipe.

■Fit the tightening screw in the slot 　and fasten the nut

■Temporarily fasten the M8x35 bolts 　evenly•Attach　the　guide　ring　at　a　right　angle　

to　the　pipe.

■Check the position•If　the　guide　ring　is　displaced,　adjust　it　by　hitting　with　

plastic　hammer　(do　not　use　an　iron　hammer).

■Fasten the bolts evenly on the 　　　circumference•Ensure　the　guide　ring　doesn't　get　

displaced　while　fastening　the　bolts.

9 Attaching spray unit

※ It is necessary to spray water on diamond blades.

■Water feed assembly (a set of 7 components) from the water tank (optional) is necessary.

■Fit the water feed assembly•Fit　the　assembly　to　the　hole　in　the　blade　cover　as　shown　

below.•Adjust　the　assembly　so　that　the　spray　port　faces　the　diamond　

blade.

⓾ Checking and fitting V-belts

■Keel Cutter N600LRCU includes V-belts of 3 sizes; C-30 (K156), C-40 (K157) and C-45 (K158) as standard accessories (2 x each size). Select the right belts according to the pipe diameter.

■Fit the V-belts

■Fit V-belts of the right size on the drive pulleys on the cutter shaft side.

■Remove two hex bolts M12 x 30 (K125) fixing the bracket on the guiding unit side, then fit V-belts on the drive pulleys.

■Selection of bladeSelect the diamond blade according to the thickness and outer diameter of the pipe.

■Attach the blade・After checking the rotat ional

direction and the order of fitting the blade and related parts, attach the blade securely using adjustable wrench and single head spanner 24mm.

《Caution》

・Cutting blade (diamond blade) has a specified rotational direction. The direction is marked on the blade as shown below.

・If the blade is attached for the wrong direction, not only the blade doesn't cut, but it will be destroyed and cause troubles.

　Ensure the nut is securely fastened to fix the blade. It is very dangerous if it gets loose during rotation,

※It rotates counterclockwise.

■The following parts are necessary.

■Ensure the following two points before attaching the machine on the pipe.

■Order of fitting　•Fit the parts in the order of ① to ④ onto the shaft, and tighten the

nut tightly.

•Check　that　the　blade　lowering　unit(screw　type)　is　elevated.

※If it's lowered, the blade may touch the pipe.

※Estimation of cut depth(when the blade new):Cut depth＝redius of diamond blabe-46

・Slightly loosen the nut on the outer roller shaft of the guiding unit with wrench (24mm).

※If the nut is tightened, the guiding unit may not fit on the guide ring.

⓮ Attaching machine on pipe

・Clean the pipe you are going to cut. If it is oily, the cutter may be slipped.

・Hold the guide ring between rollers of the guiding unit.

・Check that the V-belt fit in the groove of the drive pulley (on both sides).

・Check that the blade doesn't touch the pipe. If it does, move up the blade before starting the machine.

・Check that two drive pulleys (on the belt) and the two wheels contact the pipe.

⓯ Attaching guiding unit

■Adjust the angle of the roller shaft•Loosen　the　two　bolts,　and　fasten　

them　tightly　when　the　roller　shaft　is　aligned　to　the　pipe　center.

■Adjust the inner guide roller•Push　the　two　inner　guide　rollers　(on　

the　machine　side)　against　the　guide　ring.

■Adjust the outer guide roller•Tighten　the　adjusting　bolt　until　the　

outer　guide　roller　contacts　the　guide　ring.

■Fix the M16 and M6 nuts•Fix　the　M16　nut　of　the　outer　roller　

shaft,　then　fix　the　M6　adjusting　bolt　with　the　nut.

※You　don't　need　to　do　this　adjustment　every　time,　but　make　sure　that　the　four　guide　rollers　always　contact　the　guide　ring.　Otherwise,　the　cut　line　may　not　meet　the　starting　point.

■Attach the extension chains　・Connect the hook of the extension chain to the chain attached to

the machine.

⓲ Connecting machine and hydraulic motor

⓳ Checking before starting the engine

■Take off the cap of the hydraulic motor

•Use　the　hydraulic　motor　included　in　the　hydraulic　unit.

■Check that the hydraulic motor has a connection metal fitting.

■Connect the hydraulic motor to the machine

•Tighten　the　bolt　(socket　head,　M8x25)　using　the　hex　wrench　#6　

(K164)　included　in　the　product.

１■Check the fuel tank•Add　gasoline　if　necessary.

⓴ Checking before starting hydraulic unit

■Check the hydraulic oil•Check　the　oil　level　gauge　on　the　

hydraulic　oil　tank.　The　oil　level　should　come　between　H　and　L.

■Add hydraulic oil•If　necessary,　remove　the　cap　from　

the　tank　and　add　hydraulic　oil.

•"Idemitsu　Super　Hydro　32A"　or　equivalent　oil　should　be　used.

２■Check if the air cleaner is clean 　・Clean or replace it if necessary.

Rubber packing Flower shape cap (with the packing)

A black rubber packing is fitted inside the oil cap to prevent oil leakage during transportation. Make sure to remove the packing before using the machine.

Ensure no contaminants get in when filling the tank.

The hydraulic unit must be placed in the flattest place possible. (maximum inclination angle: 15 degrees)

Move the clutch to the "Stop".

Make sure the couplers are clean.

㉑ Connecting hydraulic unit and hydraulic hose

■Connect the couplers of the hydraulic unit and the hydraulic hose.・After connecting the couplers, slide

the outer part of the female coupler to prevent the couplers from being disconnected.

When you are going to move the switch lever to "ON", make sure the blade doesn't touch the pipe, and warn the workers for their safety.

4■Warm-up operation・Keep the clutch of the main body at "Stop", then move the switch lever to "ON" and

perform warm-up operation for 10-15 minutes.

※If the oil temperature is low, performance of the hydraulic motor will be degraded, causing pressure rise.

■Break-in operation•Move　the　clutch　to　"Run"　position　and　run　the　machine　

200-300mm　without　lowering　the　blade.

※By　performing　break-in　operation,　you　can　prevent　the　cutter　from　being　driven　off　its　track.　The　V-belts　are　loosened　after　the　break-in　operation,　so　reighten　the　belts　after　the　operation.

■Open the cock lever and spray water on the blade.㉓ Spraying water

㉔ Starting machine

■Lower the blade•Attach　the　crank　handle　to　the　blade　

lowering　screw,　then　turn　the　handle　counterclockwise　to　lower　the　blade　and　cut　through　the　pipe　wall.

・Lower the pipe until the cut is through the inner pipe wall, and tighten the wing bolt M10x20 to keep the blade from being lifted up.

Do not touch the rotating parts.

Wear safety goggles during cutting to protect eyes from cut off dust.

During cutting, check if the belts are tight and the cutter is running on the right track.

３■Complete the cut・The cutter machine runs around the pipe and complete cutting.

・After the cutting is done, move the clutch to "Stop" position to stop the run, then lift up the blade by turning the crank handle.

《Caution》In case of cutting buried pipe, the diamond blade may get caught in the cut pipe as the cutting comes to the end, causing damage to the blade. To prevent this, drive in wedges before and after the blade.

㉕ Stopping hydraulic unit

■Check the blade has stopped completely.

　

Before turning off the switch lever, make sure the diamond blade is off the pipe.

A backfire (small explosion) may occur right after the engine is stopped but this is no problem.

The blade and the rotating parts are still hot immediately after operation.

6 Maintenance

■Main body of the cutter•After　each　use,　wash　away　cut　off　dust　and　dirt　with　water,　　

then　lubricate　the　rotating　parts.

•Check　the　oil.　There　is　sufficient　oil　if　you　can　see　the　oil　through　the　oil　check　window　when　the　machine　is　horizontal.

　If　it's　not　sufficient,　remove　the　oil　hole　with　hex　wrench　#8　(K165)　and　refill　the　oil.　Idemitsu　Supergear　460　or　equivalent　oil　should　be　used.

■Roller chains①Before each use, check that the rotating parts rotate smoothly and

the chains are not deformed.②After each use, clean cut off dust and dirt completely and apply rust-

proof oil.

■V-belts•If cut off dust remains on the belt after use, its durability will be

deteriorated.

■Replace the belt if:・It is torn or frayed.・It goes below the edge of the pulley wheel when it is tightened. (If

the machine is run with the belt staying below the edge of the pulley wheel, the belt will touch the bottom of the pulley wheel and the drive force will not be transmitted.)

■Blades (Diamond blades)①After each use, wash away cut off dust and dirt with water. If they

remain on the blade, durability of the belts will be deteriorated. ②Check if the tips are broken or worn out, or if the base of the blade

is deformed. If there is any, do not use the blade.

■How to use pipe stands•Pipe　stands　are　used　when　the　pipe　is　cut　on　the　ground.

　●Using　３　pipe　stands　•Use one each stand at both ends of the pipe, and use one

stand under the cut. After the pipe is cut, two pieces of cut pipe will sit on the middle stand.

●Using　４　pipe　stands•Use one each stand at both ends of the pipe, and one each at

both sides of the cut (the stands should not get in the way of attaching the machine and cutting the pipe).

《Important Caution》Fit the wheels at the right place so that pipe is firmly supported. Unstable pipe may cause accidents. Gently put the pipe on the pipe stands so the wheels won't come off.
