Q: You’ve had the MedsPro system for seven or eight months now. How are things going? A: We’re really thrilled. Really, really thrilled! We all love it! It’s taken one or two of the staff a bit longer to get used to the new system but now we all love having the most frequently used products right in front of us and the information we need right at the touch of a screen next to the packing table. Q: Did you have to radically change your packing space or medication storage space? A: The MedsPro system has completely streamlined our packing area but it doesn’t take up any more room. Q: Can you tell me how you were packing before the MedsPro system was introduced? A: We were already using Webster-pak solutions but our medications were sorted into bags in alphabetical order in the rear packing area; scripts were at the front of the shop; we printed header cards, pulled the file and waited for the pharmacist to check orders. If there was a miscount, we had to start from scratch. Q: Has your output changed? A: Yes, dramatically. Packing is much, much faster and easier. Being organised has made us so much more productive. Q: Have you seen any other benefits? A: Absolutely! We’ve freed up time to focus on accuracy, customer relations and building the business. We know that MedsPro has lots to offer and we don’t know all of the features yet but we’re slowly picking up new things. We’re enjoying discovering lots of added extras like the productivity report, the fantastic brand over-ride feature … and we’re loving feeling completely organised and productive. We’re even thinking that at some stage if we need another monitor, it will easily pay for itself with increased efficiency and workflow. When MedsPro® team members Agata and Rose visited Capital Chemist Dickson this month, they were given a wonderfully warm welcome by pharmacist Lauren and Francis, the packing technician. They were struck by how immaculate and organised the pharmacy looked and how much pride the duo had taken in it.

In March 2015, Capital Chemist Dickson introduced the MedsPro system, becoming instantly so smitten that Francis nick-named her MedsPro monitor “Viv” after Webstercare’s Vivianne who conducted the initial training!

Don’t forget the Government tax incentives for small business investments up to $20,000 per item, including software and hardware. Why not streamline your business with the MedsPro system or MMS software? You would be doing the future of your business a big favour with cost savings, time savings and other benefi ts we would be happy to talk to you about.

A great honour to meet Kulwinder Singh who works for Sydney Trains at

Central. He saved a passenger’s life by using a defi brillator after he suffered

a heart attack. The passenger, Michael White, said: “They brought me back,

I was gone”. From the facebook page of the Prime Minister The Hon Malcolm Turnbull

TAKE HEART AUSTRALIATAKE HEART AUSTRALIA HAS A SINGLE MISSION …TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE THE SURVIVAL RATE OF AUSTRALIANS WHO SUFFER A SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST.

HAVE YOU TRIED WEBSTERCARE’S ‘DO NOT CRUSH’ LABELS?

GOVERNMENT TAX INCENTIVES FOR SMALL BUSINESS

MMS 15.2, ROLLED OUT LAST MONTH

In Australia, around 30,000 people suffer a sudden cardiac arrest each year; on average, only 9-10% of these people survive. These are the lucky few … lucky because when they collapse there has been someone nearby who knows how to help. But in a medically advanced country like Australia, Take Heart Australia and Webstercare believe luck is not an acceptable strategy!

According to Clinical Associate Professor Paul Middleton*, a specialist in pre-hospital and emergency medicine who has recently launched Take Heart Australia, “the fi rst fi ve minutes after a cardiac arrest holds the key to survival. We need more people of all ages who are trained and willing to provide immediate CPR, more and easily accessible defi brillators and we need a coordinated healthcare system.”

The best chance of survival occurs when

a victim’s care begins immediately, where Automated External Defi brillators (AEDs) are widespread and accessible and where citizens are trained and willing to provide CPR.

Webstercare shares Professor Middleton’s vision and would like to see the day when every pharmacy in Australia has a

defi brillator, and everyone who works in a pharmacy is trained in High-Quality CPR (HQ-CPR).

Take Heart Australia is also promoting a simple smart phone App which quickly indicates where the nearest AED is located, as well as alerting every fi rst responder

in a half-kilometer radius and calling 000. If there was an AED in every pharmacy around the country, we’re convinced it would make an enormous impact on cardiac survival rates.

Together, we can make it the norm – rather than the exception – to survive cardiac arrest.

“Let’s pull together as pharmacists to make this

happen”Gerard Stevens Find out more about

how you can help tomake a difference ...

Viv taking you through the MedsPro® installation process

“After the monitor had been installed, I started to play with the MedsPro system. Although I’m not young or tech-savvy, I realised how intuitive it is. I can’t break anything and I can’t wipe any information. When Viv called the next day, I had already had a ‘test drive’ and felt completely comfortable. The more you do it, the easier it gets and everything is far more professional”. Francis, Capital Chemist Dickson.

STEP 1: Once the order has been placed, it usually takes between 2-3 weeks until the MedsPro system is fully implemented.

STEP 2: A MedsPro project manager will contact you to plan the milestones (as outlined below). Your MedsPro project manager will remain your point of contact throughout the process.

STEP 3: You will be advised when the MedsPro terminal(s) is about to be shipped and will be advised about the set-up/networking process.

STEP 4: Milestones: the pharmacy consolidates its database the Medspro system is customised and

confi gured mathematically by the MedsPro team for your particular space and allocated area

the pharmacy takes a stock count of medications and fl oats to be entered into the virtual pill count

the MedsPro team goes through dispensing procedures and adapts the system to best suit each individual pharmacy, whilst streamlining procedures and implementing the system

the MedsPro team trains staff on best packing practices utilising the MedsPro system

the MedsPro Team and Webstercare Customer Service Team continue to provide support and ongoing training as required. On-site training is also available.

DON’T RUSH TO CRUSH

GIVE ME A BREAK!

The second edition of the Australian Don’t Rush to Crush Handbook*, reputedly one of Australia’s most comprehensive guides to administering solid oral medicines to people unable to swallow, was published last month. Can I crush it? Can I dissolve it? Can I open the capsule? Is there a liquid formulation? Can I give the injection orally?

Don’t forget the important ‘DO NOT CRUSH’ alert on Webstercare’s Unit Dose 7 header card and medication charts.

Do not crush labels are available in 64 labels per sheet.Code: CL DNC 65

This will be the last version of MMS to support Windows XP. XP, launched in 2001, is no longer supported by Microsoft and as such, has its own security issues and vulnerabilities. We want to ensure that all of the Webstercare software is as secure and stable as possible so we encourage you to update to Microsoft 7, 8 or even 10.

MILESTONEWebstercare now has most of its pharmacy customers on version 14.11 of the MMS software – or higher. If you’re not running the latest version you may be missing out on some great new added features. Call one of our Customer Service team for assistance: Freecall 1800 244 358
