Character Adventure
Use this graphic to learn how to access an eBook! Find a book that is a “good fit” for you. After you read, or listen to the book, consider this prompt:
Who were the characters in your story? Draw a picture of your favorite character. Be sure to include lots of details. Why was he/she your favorite? Write one word to describe the character. Such as, funny, silly, smart, etc.

Shape Walk
Go on a shape hunt. What shapes can you find around you? Take some pictures, post them on social media and describe the shape. How many sides? How many points?

Kitchen Measurement
Tools you can use to measure: cubes, blocks, Legos, plastic cups, popsicle sticks, yarn.
How tall is your refrigerator door? Use one of the tools to measure the refrigerator door.
What else can you measure in your kitchen? What’s the biggest item in your kitchen? What’s the smallest? Draw a picture comparing three items you found in your kitchen by size. Did you compare by height or length? Watch This Handwashing Video!
Language Development
Encourage your child to express themselves during family conversations:
1. Try asking open ended questions,with responses that would requireshort phrases or sentence answers.
2. Ask for elaboration. If your childresponds with a single word, ask afollow up question to get them tosay more.
3. Model longer phrases whennecessary, and have your childrepeat it back to you correctly.
Daily Read Aloud
Go to storylineonline.net and watch a read aloud or choose a picture book to read to your child.
Afterward, have a discussion about the story. Who was it about? Where did it take place? What was your favorite part? Why? Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story.
Letter Plates
Use shaving cream on a table or salt in a plate to practice writing letters. An adult can say a letter sound or letter name and the child writes it in the salt or shaving cream. Draw a picture that begins with the same sound. For example, a /a/ apple. If you don’t have shaving cream, use salt, sand, crayons, markers, pencils, paint, sidewalk chalk, etc.
