Strategic Forum SpeakersCason Swindle, Executive DirectorWell Control Institute

Cason Swindle is the Executive Director of the Well Control Institute, headquartered in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining WCI, Mr Swindle worked in commercial real estate in Washington State and developed renewable energy projects in China before transitioning to the oil and gas industry in positions with Global Training & Environmental, Frontier Drilling and Noble Drilling Services. Prior to the WCI, his most recent position was Director of Learning and Development at Noble, where he co-lead the development of the Noble NEXT Center, a state-of-the art simulation, training and collaboration facility, as well as the development of Noble’s virtual learning, competency assurance, and curriculum development initiatives. Mr. Swindle received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and did master’s degree work in Organizational Systems Design at Antioch University in Seattle.

Malcolm Lodge, Director of Training and AssessmentWell Control Institute

Malcolm was born and attended school in London, England. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of London and a Post Graduate Certi cate in Education from Keele University. After a two-year assignment teaching school in Nigeria he joined the oil industry in 1975 with Baroid, then Anadrill before moving to Santa Fe Drilling in 1979. He stayed with Santa Fe that later merged eventually into Transocean. In July 2013 he left Transocean and later that year took up a position with the Well Control Institute (WCI).

During his career he has worked on land, Jack-up and semi-submersible rigs but the majority of his career has been in teaching and training management, holding senior training positions since 1996. Over his career he has been heavily involved with training standards, competence and safety management systems through various industry bodies. His current position is Director, Training and Assessment for the WCI working on new standards for well control training and assessment.

Tim Bailey, Director of Global Wells InstituteGlobal Wells Organisation, BP

Tim Bailey joined BP in 1979 as a mud engineer in the North Sea. He has worked in the UK, Norway, and Colombia. He also served as wells team leader in the new BP Amoco Technology Group, followed by the role of common process director for BP Drilling and Completions. In 2010, he took on the role of Director of the BP’s Global Wells Institute to transform capability development for wells personnel. Tim graduated with a BS in Geology, with honors, from the University of London.

Vibeke Sam, Head of Learning, Human ResourcesMaersk Drilling & Maersk FPSOs

Vibeke Sam is Head of Learning in Maersk Drilling. She holds a M.Sc. degree in Organisation and Strategic Planning, and her career has evolved in the elds of Communication, Business Consulting and developing and implementation of HR activities. Her core competencies consist of Learning Consultancy, Business Development and Project Management and her key focus areas are business development of new HR services, methodologies and content and transformation of business strategies into operational HR activities. She has developed, implemented and evaluated several global training programmes in Maersk Drilling.

Vibeke has been the Project Manager of the immersive simulator environment established at Maersk Training in Svendborg, Denmark.
