Introduction VECT1

MileGate VECT1 is the system level vectoring controller unit

for MileGate

MileGate VECT1 interworks with the following line cards to

provide the system level vectoring functionality

SUV11 – 48 port VDSL2 over POTS line card

SUVM6 – 48 port VDSL2 over ISDN line card

With Vectoring the VDSL2 lines achieves almost the data

rates of a single line (Single Line Performance)

VECT1 can be operated in the following subracks

MileGate 2500/2510

MileGate 2300/2310

MileGate 2200

VECT1

October 2013 © KEYMILE Page 32

Main Features VECT1

VDSL2 with vectoring achieves high reliable data rates on

copper cables

Up to 768 vectored VDSL2 lines can be provided per

MileGate 25x0 subrack

VECT1 supports a vectoring group size of up to 192 VDSL2

lines (four VDSL2 line cards)

Full cancellation support for best performance gain

Can be used with already installed line cards

VECT1 enables the introduction of VDSL2 and vectoring in

two steps

First pure VDSL2 services

later upgrade with vectoring

October 2013 © KEYMILE Page 33

Vectoring - System Architecture

Best performance gain can be achieved when all VDSL2

signals in the cable are in the same vectoring group

Vectoring group size could be bigger as port count of a single

VDSL2 line-card

Different vectoring groups on different line-cards will reduce

performance gain substantially

Vectoring only on card level is not sufficient

MileGate VECT1 together with the high density VDSL2 units

SUV11 and SUVM6 supports system level vectoring

Remote Feeding

October 2013 Page 50

Motivation

Cost effective deployment of VDSL2 in remote locations

For small locations

Without AC power installation

With minimized footprint

Allows for very small housings

Does not need mains power supply at the remote location

Does not need backup batteries – can be placed centralized

Remote feeding with high voltage (280 – 350V) is allowed on

copper lines between central office and remote locations

There are free copper lines which can be used for remote

feeding (should be available due to data transport over fibre)

© KEYMILEOctober 2013 Page 51

Remote Feeding – Technical Background

© KEYMILE

Remote FeedingUnit

Remote PowerSupply

Remote Feeding: Feeding Voltage: 350 VDC, < 60 mA per copper pair

Feeding Range: up to 4 km on 0,4 mm diameter

Power: ~ 13 W per copper line

10 x copper pairs

Example: MG 2200 with one VDSL2 card - 48 ports VDSL2 – needs about 100 W

Remote feeding with 10 pairs (2 pairs for redundancy) allows full operation of 48 VDSL2

subscribers
