JO Jingles is the leadingmusic and movementexperience in the UK. Local classes are run by me,Virginia Martin, and RosieBlackwood, in Bishop’sCleeve, Cheltenham andGloucester.I started running Jo Jinglesclasses 10 years ago andRosie has worked alongsideme for the past three years. Together we have introducedhundreds of young children tomusic, singing andmovement. Our fun classes have aneducational slant. We aim toteach children to playpercussion instruments expressively, tosing songs, to hold a tune and to findthe rhythm to move and dance to. We run classes for children agedbetween three months and five years andthe 2-3 years and 3-5 years classes arestructured around pre-school themes. CHELTENHAM Cub Karting (CCK)specialises in birthday parties forchildren between 3-9 years old on ayear-round basis. We can come to you,(area required is at least 50ft by 30ft tohouse the blow-up track), you can booka venue of your choice – or we can sortthat out for you.

There are four electrically operated kartsand the speeds can be regulated to suitthe ages of the children, with a 6mphmaximum. The events are fullysupervised by trained operators at alltimes, and the karts are completely safe,with the children fully strapped in withsecure seat belting. A full visual safetytalk is always given before operation.

There are a series of warm-ups, whereeach child is able to feel his or her wayaround the kart, which has a “onepedal” operation – ie depressed fully formotion and released for braking. CCKthen adds variation by introducingbollards, which allows chicane driving totake place and tests the skill of theyoung drivers against their peers.

We then line the four karts up together,to allow heats and races to take place.The birthday child is made to feel extraspecial and is always the best driver onthe day. We set his/her kart to a superiorspeed than the others during the finalraces.

The birthday child is also presented witha CCK embroidered cap (blue for boysand pink for girls) and ribboned medal,at the awards ceremony, which takesplace at the end of each event. All
