Despite the significant decrease in the number of people who die from easily preventable diseases, third world countries are still plagued by diseases which can be cured cost-effectively. Our organization focuses on three different highly efficient strategies to save lives and help communities escape from the vicious cycle they are in. The categories under which we operate are cataract surgeries, hospital construction & administration and health scan programs. One of the major diseases that fall under this category is cataract. The number of people who lose their sight due to third stage cataract disease (complete loss of sight without permanent damage to eyes) or fourth stage (permanent damage to eyes accompanied with blindness due to cataract) will reach 75 million in Central Africa alone by the end of 20201. Secondly, while lack of properly equipped hospitals and health clinics prevent the handling of many easily-treated diseases, unsterile health centers often cause epidemics. Lack of professional hospitals prevent many organizations from finding capable partner centers to execute health related projects in the field. Our health scan programs are especially needed in crisis situations during which present healthcare facilities are incapable of meeting the increased need. These ad hoc healthcare supports meet the short-term dire need for medical attention in disaster stricken communities.

Our Efforts on Cataract: The personal and social impact of cataract at the advanced stage are often overwhelming. While disease presents itself due to aging, it is a common tradition to assign one of the children in the family to take care of the blind adult’s (and in some cases the whole family’s) needs. This common practice prevents these children from getting an education and achieving their full potential, and it prevents not only blind people from contributing to society, but also the caretaker children. many countries, a cataract surgery can be done at a very low cost. After the surgery, the patient quickly recovers and is able to contribute to his/her community. Our organization started its first cataract surgery campaign in 2008 at Darfur, Sudan with a total of 220 surgeries that year. In 2012 Niger became the second country to be included in cataract program. Our division started cataract surgeries in Cameroon, Chad, and the Central African

Republic in 2013, while opening a second center at Sudan in Khartoum. In 2014 Mali, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Nepal, Guinea, and the Congo Republic were added to program. At the end of 2014, the total number of cataract surgeries performed increased to 30,000. This was nearly double the number of surgeries completed during all the previous years combined. The total number of eye examinations done by our teams is estimated to be

around 405,000. As Kimse Yok Mu, we are determined to reach out more people and increase the number of operations every year. One of the strategies in order to enjoy an exponential increase in number of surgeries will be to expand the number of participating countries as well as the number of organizations. We have already tried partnering with numerous other organizations and have seen great results. Our Efforts on Health: Our undertaking on hospital construction and administration has started with the opening our first hospital in 2011. In 2014 we were able to build four more hospitals. Our most recent hospital opened in Haiti will be operational in a very short time. Our commitments for the end of 2017 in this area are twofold. Firstly, we pledge to find new partners that can provide additional services to our existing infrastructure. Secondly, in order to both decrease the cost of

of our hospitals, we will continuously perform more cataract surgeries in our hospitals and encourage countries to build transportation networks to our hospitals in order to increase the number of people who can reach our hospitals.
