King Benjamin was a righteous ruler and king over the people of Nephi. King Benjamin was about to die so he told his son, Mosiah to gather the people of the land to the temple to hear the words which he would speak unto them. (Mosiah 2:1-2)

The people came up to the temple and they pitched there tents there with their own families. And the door to their tents faced the temple so they could hear King Benjamin. (Mosiah 2:5-6)

Page 4: King Benjamin's Sermon

Because there were so many people he had a tower built so that they could hear him better. He also wanted his words to be written down for those who could not hear him. (Mosiah 2:7-8)

King Benjamin told the people to keep the commandments and they would prosper in the land and bless them because He loves them. (Mosiah 2:4,22)

Page 5: King Benjamin's Sermon

He told them to take care of their children and teach them not to fight or quarrel with each other. Also to teach them to walk in the ways of truth and righteousness, that they are to love one another and serve them. (Mosiah 4:14)

King Benjamin said, :And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn the when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” Be of service, give to the poor and needy, and visit the sick. (Mosiah 2:17, Mosiah 4:26)

Page 6: King Benjamin's Sermon

King Mosiah asked the people to remember who had created them, and that they belong to Him, Heavenly Father. (Mosiah 2:25)

He asked them to repent of all the things they had done wrong. Being humble and with a sincere heart He will forgive them if they believe and do all the things in righteousness. Mosiah 4:10)

Page 7: King Benjamin's Sermon

King Benjamin asked them to believe in God. He created all things, both in Heaven and in earth. He has all wisdom and power. (Mosiah 2:9)

He asked them to live peaceably. To not hurt any one. (Mosiah 4:13)

Page 8: King Benjamin's Sermon

King Benjamin told the people about the coming of Jesus, the Son of God, and that His mother shall be called Mary. He also told how Jesus would be crucified, and rise again (resurrection) and will be a judge over the people. (Mosiah 8:10)

The people fell down and began to repent of their sins. They had a change in their hearts, and did ask for forgiveness and made a promise to keep the commandments. (Mosiah 4:2-3, 5: 2-7)

Page 9: King Benjamin's Sermon

King Mosiah told them that it was difficult to stand and speak to them, but the Lord God supported him and commanded him to speak to his people. He also said that his son, Mosiah is “a king and ruler over you.” King Benjamin died 3 years later and Mosiah became ruler at the age of 13. (Mosiah 2:30, 6:3,4)

King Benjamin recorded all the names of the people who had repented and were willing to live in righteousness. All of the people made a covenant (promise) to obey all the commandments of God. (Mosiah 6: 1-2)
