Geographical location of countries obviously influences the collaboration patterns – the EU MS/AC collaborate most often with the EECA countries that are in their closest neighbourhood Historical and cultural ties also play a role in forming collaboration networksCollaboration reflects the potential of S&T sector in the countries as well as balance of national prioritiesMajor thematic fields of well established EU – EECA cooperation are physical and mathematical sciences, nanotechnology and environment
