Texas 4-H Roundup will kick off on June 8th-12th. Great job to all of the KKC 4-H’ers receiving Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarships and competing in Ag Product Id, Fashion Storyboard, Fashion Show, Duds to Dazzle and Consumer Decision Making contests. We wish everyone the best of luck!

tive and/or non-competitive 4-H events. Should a student be ineligible due to their respective School
District’s Policy (grades, absenteeism, discipline, etc.), school officials will be notified in writing of
their ineligibility status by our office.

If you made the Auction Sale, you will need to complete THANK YOU letters and PRO-
JECT RECORD forms prior to receiving your livestock show check. Checks are now
available at the Extension Office.
Project Record Forms and 2015 KKJLS Check Requirements/Sale Packet can be down-
loaded from our county website (http://kleberg.agrilife.org) under 4-H Publications.
Red Ribbon Exhibitors (exhibitors that did not make the sale but received re-sale value), please
come by to pick up re-sale check. As always red ribbon exhibitors are encouraged to send thank
you letters to your add-on supporters.
Deadline to turn in Thank you Letters & Project Record Forms is June 30th!
The Wild Horse Desert Club had its year end party on Sunday, May 31st at Sam No-
ble Park in Sarita. Club awards were presented and the 2015-2016 officers were
elected.

The Kleberg-Kenedy County Youth Garden Show was held on
May 21st at 5:30 p.m. at the Dick Kleberg Park recreation Build-
ing. About 30 kids, parents and teachers representing 6 schools
and 4-H members growing a garden attended to showcase their
fruits and vegetables. Various Prizes were given to largest and
smallest vegetables turned. Thank you to everyone that helped
to support this program in our schools. We provided lessons to
about 700 kids this year.

District 12 4-H Horse Show
The District 12 4‐H Horse Show will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015
at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds located in Rob-
stown. Individual online registration will open immediately through
June 9, 2015 on 4-H Connect.
► NEW! Participants must upload their EIA (Coggins) test results
through 4-H Connect as part of their registration for each horse en-
tered. The test results must show a negative test dated no earlier
than June 19, 2014.

Major Show Steer & Heifer Validation
Texas 4-H Roundup:
Major Show State Steer & Heifer Validation will be held at the TAMUK
Pavilion on June 30th from 8:30am-11:30am. Important: Parent/Guardian
MUST attend validation with exhibitor to sign necessary documents. If
parent/guardian is unable to attend, please contact the Extension Office
361-595-8566 to complete paperwork prior to validation. This is the
ONLY State Steer validation to be held this year.
This year the 2015 State 4-H Roundup will be offering several intermediate and senior
level invitational contests. Kleberg-Kenedy County 4-H members will be traveling to
College Station to compete in the following contests.

Interested in learning about leadership development, meeting new friends, and
having lots of FUN? District 12 4-H Leadership Lab is an excellent opportunity for
youth ages 12 years old and up to learn new and different activities, interact with
youth of the same age, meet new members from other communities and have plenty
of fun. Lab is scheduled for June 23-26th in Uvalde. Cost: $185/participant. County
Council will contribute money to participants attending to help offset the cost. If
interested, please register on 4-H Connect. District 12 4-H Election Convention is
set for Friday, June 26th in Uvalde. You can register for Election Convention when
you register for Leadership Lab. The deadline to register is June 4th.

Start working on your 4-H Recordbooks early!!!
Members completing a recordbook are invited to a recognition
party. Party Invitations will be distributed when recordbooks
are turned in. This is your encouragement to complete your
recordbook and attend the party. You are welcome to bring a
non 4-H friend to the party.
Recordbooks are DUE June 16th to the Extension Office.
If unable to attend the workshop, but are interested in
completing a recordbook, please visit the following website for

This is a great project for the kids to share what they have
accomplished throughout the year and qualifies 4-H’ers for a
special County Awards Banquet in August which highlights
outstanding 4-H members.
Adult Volunteers interested in judging recordbooks at the
county and/or district level, please call ASAP. This is an
excellent opportunity to understand the recordbook process
and gain experience.
County judging will take place on June 18th.
