4-H Greetings
Welcome to the official start of summer 2016. Congratulations to all graduating seniors! We wish you the best of luck with your future plans. Don’t miss out on the great 4-H and Youth summer camp and program opportunities. Kingsville/Kleberg-Kenedy Summer Youth Programs are scheduled to begin on June 7th. See flyer inside!
District 12 4-H Archery Match is June 11th in Benavides. Good Luck to KKC 4-H’ers competing!
Texas 4-H Roundup kicked off on June 6th-10th. Good Luck to all of the 4-Hers competing in Ag Product Id, Fashion Storyboard, Duds to Dazzle, Wildlife Challenge, Food Challenge, Food Show and Consumer Decision Making contests. We wish everyone the best of luck!
District 12 4-H Leadership Lab will also be held this month. W e h o p e e v e r y o n e t h a t r e g i s t e r e d h a s a n a w e s o m e t i m e .
District 12 4-H Horse Show is June 17th at Richard Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown. Good Luck to the KKC 4-H’ers participating.

Kleberg-Kenedy County AgriLife Extension Service complies with the law set forth by legislature

event (food show, fashion show, livestock show, etc.) must be certified as eligible to participate by
their respective schools. School officials will be provided with a list of students entered in competi-
tive and/or non-competitive 4-H events. Should a student be ineligible due to their respective School
District’s Policy (grades, absenteeism, discipline, etc.), school officials will be notified in writing of
their ineligibility status by our office.
Individuals with disabilities who require an auxiliary aid, service, or accommodation in order to par-
ticipate in any 4-H event are encouraged to contact their County Extension Agent at 361.595.8566 at
least one week in advance of the program in order for proper arrangements to be made.

Texas 4-H Roundup: Next week Kleberg-Kenedy County 4-H members will be traveling to College Station
to compete in Texas 4-H Roundup. We have 15 kids competing in 8 different
events. Let’s wish them the best of luck!!!!

If you made the Auction Sale, you will need to complete THANK YOU
letters and PROJECT RECORD forms prior to receiving your livestock
show check…Checks are not available yet. Please be patient, notifica-
tion will be sent out when they arrive. Project Records Forms and the
KKJLS Check Requirements/ Sale Packet can be downloaded from out
county website (http://kleberg.agrilife.org) under 4-H Publications.
State Fair Lamb, Goat, Swine, and Steer Validation
Major Show State Validation will be held at the TAMUK
Pavilion on June 27th from 9am to 12pm. State Fair Lambs,
Goats, and Swine will be from 9am to 10am, State Fair
Steers are from 10am until 12pm.

Interested in learning about leadership development, meeting new friends, and having
lots of FUN? District 12 4-H Leadership Lab is an excellent opportunity for youth ages 12
years old and up to learn new and different activities, interact with youth of the same
age, meet new members from other communities and have plenty of fun. Lab is sched-
uled for June 21-24th in Kingsville.
Approximate cost: $200/participant. County Council will contribute money to partici-
pants attending to help offset the cost. IDistrict 12 4-H Election Convention is set for Fri-
day, June 24th in Kingsville. See May Newsletter for more information.

HORSE CLUB NEWS:
The District 12 4‐H Horse Show will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Richard M.
Borchard Regional Fairgrounds located in Robstown. Registration will be online through
4‐H CONNECT. Remember, only validated horses can be entered. Individual online reg-
istration will open immediately through June 7, 2016.
No refunds will be given to a county or individual. No registrations will be accepted af-
ter the June 7, 2016 deadline. Stall reservations must be made on 4‐H CONNECT. Stall
fees are $35/stall which includes 2 bales of shavings.
Every effort will be made to stall counties together for stalls purchased in advance. All
stalls will be reserved on a first come‐first served basis.► Participants must upload their
EIA (Coggins) test results through 4-H Connect as part of their registration for each
horse entered. The test results must show a negative test dated no earlier than June
16, 2016.
DISTRICT 12 LEADERSHIP LAB & ELECTION
CONVENTION
Pre-Registration begins May 23-June 6th. Registration will continue all of June and
July. Summer camp starts June 7th at 8am at Dick Kleberg Park BBQ Area. Kiddie
Camp are ages from 6 to 8 years old, and Adventure Camp are ages 9 and UP. Daily
rate is $7.00. See pages 7&8.

4-H Recordbook:
Start working on your 4-H Recordbooks early!!!
Members completing a recordbook are invited to a recognition
party. Party Invitations will be distributed when recordbooks
are turned in. This is your encouragement to complete your
recordbook and attend the party. You are welcome to bring a
non 4-H friend to the party.
Recordbooks are DUE June 14th to the Extension Office.
If unable to attend the workshop, but are interested in
completing a recordbook, please visit the following website for

This is a great project for the kids to share what they have
accomplished throughout the year and qualifies 4-H’ers for a
special County Awards Banquet in August which highlights
outstanding 4-H members.
Adult Volunteers interested in judging recordbooks at the
county and/or district level, please call ASAP. This is an
excellent opportunity to understand the recordbook process
and gain experience.
County judging will take place on June 16th.
Contact the Extension Office if you would like more information
on 4-H Recordbooks.
You may pick up the recordbooks on June 20th.
