S U M M A R Y
I. Title of Project
Feasibility study on introduction of KOLAS (Korea Laboratory
Accreditation Scheme) in nuclear examination facility
II. Objectives and Importance of the Project
Recently the KAERI is trying to acquire the accreditation of
testing by using KOLAS. To analyze what the advantage obtained
from the introduction of KOLAS is, it is to be understood the
present state and the concept in the existing system accredited by
officially approved organization, and also is to be examined whether
the KOLAS can be applied to the testing and analysis procedures
conducted in the institute or not.
HI. Scope and Contents of the Project
To be an institute officially authorized by the KOLAS, the
understanding and the analysis of following contents is required.
- the understanding of concept required to get the accreditation
of testing
- the system specifying an internationally accredited testing and
examination organization
- international organization in the field of laboratory
accreditation
- domestic laboratory accreditation organization(KOLAS)
- the investigation of the regulations related with laboratory
- IU -
accreditation in Korea
- the investigation of the procedures accrediting a testing and
examination organization
- the investigation of general requirements(ISO 17025) for a
testing and examination organization
IV. Results and Proposal for Applications
Introducing the KOLAS in testing and analysis, the following
advantages can be obtained.
- Assurance of the reliability of test data and report by
introducing the uncertainty into analyzing the test results
- Accreditation of the results obtained from the officially
approved testing and examination organization at home as
well as abroad
- Improvements of reliability of testing and examination
technique by the round robin tests between laboratories at
home as well as abroad
- Avoidance of the duplicate tests by construction of network
mutually certificated in domestic and abroad
- the recognition of the certification of test and analysis
reported by an accredited test and examination organization
in domestic and abroad
