More information about the appeal will be issued shortly.

SIXTH FORM INFORMATION EVENING

Wednesday 24th

October This evening is an opportunity for external and existing Fifth Year pupils and parents to access information about examinations offered by the School and to start thinking seriously about their Sixth Form choices. After short presentations by the Head Master and the Director of Sixth Form there will be opportunities to talk to staff and students about specific subjects and broader issues.

Staff and Parent Prayer Meeting A prayer meeting will be held on Tuesday 25

th

September between 1pm and 2pm in the Hospitality Suite. All parents welcome.

MODERN LANGUAGES INFORMATION

German Mr Kukla will be leading this year’s Aachen Christmas Market Trip from Friday 7th - Sunday 9th December. Letters regarding this trip can be obtained from all German teachers or email Mr Kukla on [email protected] for more information.

Third and Fourth Year German students should sign up during this first half of term for the German Exchange to Mutterstadt in April/May 2013. Details are available from all German teachers or email Mrs Allen on [email protected] for more information.

French There is an Information Evening for the Angers trip on

Monday 8th October at 7.30pm in the Hospitality Suite for students and parents. A gentle reminder also that the final

instalment for this trip is due by the end of September.

COMMUNICATION Under normal circumstances parents may expect a response to communication within 3 working days during term time. Parents are asked to understand that staff are very busy and are not always in a position to respond immediately, though obviously any urgent matters will be prioritised. During School holidays, issues which require urgent attention should be directed to the Main Office or to [email protected].

There are copies of both the Parents’ Guide and Sixth Form Parents’ Guide on the website.

These publications contain a wealth of information about life at King Edward’s. Click here to access the Parents’

Guide and here to access the Sixth Form version.

This is a group set up as a link for parents of pupils who cross the Common to get to and from School and as a means of sharing information and concerns. Whilst the group is an important resource, numbers have dwindled recently, but luckily we have a very keen parent willing to co-ordinate information, organise and move the group forward. She would like to hear from any parent interested in joining the group and finding out what kind of support would be useful to them and whether they would be happy to walk or cycle with other students living near by. Please contact Marianne Plater at [email protected] for more details.

Sports Fixtures Regular fixtures are played on Saturdays throughout the year and pupils, if selected, are expected to make themselves available. Home matches are played at School or at our playing fields at the Wellington site in Stoneham Lane. Parents are very welcome to watch and support the teams. Members of staff running the teams will set up cancellation procedures for the pupils in the case of bad weather. Due to the changeable nature of Sports Fixtures we no longer print a definitive list in the pupil diary. Please check the School website for the most up to date information. Click here to access sports pages.

To enable us to be sure of the whereabouts and safety of our students it is important that you contact the Main School Office (02380 704561) or by email [email protected]) as soon as possible, preferably by 8.30am, if your child is ill or is going to be late. If the illness is on-going please contact the Main Office each day that your child is absent. We would also be grateful if you would reinforce the need for your child to report to the Main Office if they arrive late to School.
