The municipalityrsquos appeal follows com-plaints by members of the public that the siteis filthy and filling rapidly without havingbeen cleared in weeksWhen Kouga Express visited the site last

week rubbishwas seen strewn all around theentrance and along its perimeter as well asacross the road The site itself had a huge pileof rubbish in one corner and a general wastearea filled chest high At least fourmore vehi-cles entered the site some with trailers ofwaste while Kouga Express was thereAccording tomunicipal spokesperson Lau-

ra-Leigh Randall the Terex Machine used toclean the site had broken down ldquoWe are in

the pro-cess of procuring a front-end loaderfor five days to clear the site The paperworkis currently with our Supply Chain officerdquoAccording to Randall the municipality is

in the process of erecting three new wastecells and an evaporation pond as well as aguard house and ablution facilitiesThis upgrade forms part of the R25 million

The annual Nautical Festival is set to takeplace in and around St Francis Bay from April29 to May 1

The festival will sail into action with achokka boat light display at sunset on April28 when 20 boats or more will light up the har-bour

The official opening ceremony will takeplace at 1000 on April 30 with a flag paradeby the TS Kromme Sea Cadets and a penguinrelease by the Southern African Foundationfor the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANC-COB) at the harbour

An educational live shark tank will be on

display while a craftersrsquo market will offer me-mentoes quilts arts and crafts and modelboats

Festival-goers can also look forward to aninflatable zip-line obstacle course sumo-suits and a dog walk from the Port in aid ofthe local SPCA on the Sunday morning

Also on the festival-menu is the RotaryMakro Golf Festival bowls tennis volleyball a 5km Park Run a Colour Run canal orsea cruises as well as the St Francis FishingChallenge
