There are some benefits to living in the country. Angelina Brooy-

mans, KPAC Social Director, is staying anti-social in her home west

of Merritt. She writes:

Bob Lewis - I'm busy in my workshop building Bluebird boxes for the returning flocks. They are arriving already. We were up in the Dewdrop Range last week to clean out a half dozen I ve had up there for a few years. All had old nests in them that had to be cleaned out. We came home with lots of Wood ticks! As a result, I think I will have to find a new sidekick to install the new ones with. I also build Tete de Tetes and porch swings from salvaged scraps from construction sites.

I use miss tints exte-rior paint that I get from the lumber and Hardware stores to keep the cost down; a little repurposing to keep a little less going into the landfills. Last year I was into Murphy beds and Charcuterie boards, Dog houses and porch swings. The workshop projects help fill the days of staying at home. Next endeavour will be to clean up the shop and reorganize. My workshop is a disaster at the moment so if the COVID-19 restrictions last awhile longer I should derive some benefit from being shut in.

Isobel Lamarche—When I spotted this Bald Eagle, he was on the power pole cross arm, he then hopped into the nest and started rooting around. I thought he was re-building this nest. But no, the 2nd pic shows that he was an opportunist, he picked up a bunch of de-bris and branches in his talons and flew off to another nest where, Pic 3, shows his mate waiting. I guess he was making their nest a bit more comfy and liked the easy pickings. The pics are not the best but it was really fun to watch. Another way that I am managing to entertain myself while isolating is by working on and creating quilts.

Rober Self I ola ion he challenge

On February 2 after a night of snow, -5C, and the

days that followed I got out often to shoot before I

packed my camera into my computer bag in antici-

pation of our holiday in Australia.

The purpose of the trip was to see Family in Byron

Bay NSW, arriving late in the day of Feb 19 after

travelling for almost 24 hours. With the snow out

of the way and +30C temperatures the norm, we

would walk most days the 2.44Km through town to

the beach.

The scenery was completely different from Kam-

loops. In the 21 days we were there, I shot 1664

images all in Shutter priority mostly with my 70-300 lens and no tripod or mono pod as I was travelling light.

Returning to Canada March 12, we arrived to a completely different set of rules. We travelled back to Kamloops

to 2-weeks isolation, only leaving the house for an hour, and a short cold walk in the deserted park behind us.

The rest of the time I have been working on my Family tree and now started to work on my Purple Cougar book

again. My camera has mostly been in hibernation with only 56 frames shot in the last 20 days. We are past the 14

days of isolation but remaining home, to keep safe. - Robert Nowland

Sigi White - I am out walking a lot.

I spent many years being addicted to the November, Mountain Film Festival. Not so much these past few years.

It s expensive The COVID-19 pandemic has cancelled many of the Film Festivals so the Banff Centre is offering

some films on-line. I do one movie per evening. Lovely variety of entertainment, just pick which ones suit your

taste. The cinematography is superb, since they screen hundreds of movies to make it into the Film Festival.

Keep well and keep healthy. - Sigi

The Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival brings you a curated program of free Festival films that are

available online for you to watch at home with your family. Check back regularly as we will add more films to the

program. Stay strong, stay inspired and enjoy the adventure.

Al Fedorak - I am keeping busy between walking our dogs every morning, small projects around the house and a major catch-up in my editing & filing images into Lightroom. I'm only about 1 1/2 yrs behind. I'm making good progress. I carry a cam-era every dog walk but yesterday I had my image out in the back yard during the snow dump.

Frank Dwyer is spending this time working on photos from his recent trip to Australia.

Gang-Gang Cockatoo. Nature has so much

imagination, as to Aussie names. Here is a

male Gang-Gang Cockatoo. Photographed

through the cage wires at the marvelous

Feathestone wildlife reserve, Sydney Austra-

lia. Great place to practice wildlife photogra-

phy. Of course, you have to get there!

Joey peeking out. I think that mother is going to

turn off the milk soon and get this fellow out of

the pocket. I was four feet from her.

(Featherstone again)

Milford Sound, New Zealand. So I thought taking

marvelous images from a cruise ship voyaging

through the epic Doubtful, Dusky and Milford

Sounds would be a snap Hah, think again. I did get this one and a few others the rest, a staggering

and even comical learning curve. So this is Mitre Peak. You just have to have SilverEfex to make black

and white images. Frank Dwyer

Bryan Hunt - I have bought some more photo gear - a new 100 to 400 lens I think it is GOOD. And with all the added stuff I had to get another BACKPACK. Been out taking pictures some good and others so so. It is crappy with this virus going around and having to go out by yourself. At least when I talk to myself I get the right answer. LOL – Bryan Hunt Valerie Rampone— I have swapped out the Halloween pic-tures in my MEMBERS GALLERY for florals to chase away the last dregs of winter. I d love to see each one of you with a Gallery page. Choose a theme like I have or just a selection of your favourite images. Doesn t even have to be 35. It s OK to mount less. Easy to follow instructions are on our website.
